@susina,, topping is a very simple technique and is done usually above the 5th or 6 node because that will allow you to have enough branches to get what you want out of it anyting else with less nodes will require considerable growing skill to make it into a decent crop .
When you are dealing with auto plants depending of their genetic and Heritage they might respond well or bad to topping because they may not have enough time to recover before flowering start if you start flowering already it is something that will be probably counterproductive.
But basically just cut out the tip to a point where you hit the top stem off the plant and that's it within 2-3 days if she is healthy she will start to recover.
A quick note I usually do not do it to autos because by bending them meaning by low stress training you can achieve the same result without stressing the plant.
Good luck with your garden have a happy grow.
@Canadian, thank you for your answer, I'm giving her a general npk fertilizer since it's quite hard to get the specific ones in my country. I'll try to use a better soil with my next grow. Also could you tell me something more about topping? I've read you should cut above the fifth 'node' and mine has just developed it.
