Could it be better if I cut a hole at the bottom of the plug so the roots could've found a space to grow into?

either physical obsticale and it's routing around or you are superficially watering and roots are turning toward greater moisture at the top. really shouldn't have a huge gap in the medium like that. roots exposed to light will differentiate into stem and be useless. you do not need to cut a hole in the bottom. if it's loose, push it slightly down and cover and shape it back to 1 piece of medium instead of 2 halves with a huge gap. When you irrigate, make sure you fully saturate roots can burrow through some pretty hefty material. if you water correctly, gravity and moisture should keep it tunneling down instead of toward the surface. keep it simple.. don't make it complicated.

It is necessary to make the roots not in the light. Make a neat hole in the center and spread it with your fingers, then insert the root carefully and very carefully put in the central hole the middle of the root. So that everything looks like a planted plant, only in a reduced version. The root sticks out in the middle of the soil, the stem is located in the center, vertically. The root is located in the center of the substrate, light does not fall on the root, only the top of the plant sticks out in the middle with leaves up to the light. Do this, transplant carefully, monitor the humidity and roots in the correct position - they will begin rapid growth, after which they will take the entire area of the substrate in a few days 4-7 days with successful good growth. I am also always with seedlings - I cover the sprouts with a lid of transparent passing light, in the first week it is useful to create greenhouse conditions, after the first week and good rooting, you can remove an auxiliary greenhouse. And do not hesitate with a transplant after successful rooting. Good mood and good yields 🙌

Never seen plugs like that before. I would just cover the tops with some peat moss/vermiculte if you have it, or something simlar, to keep the root from drying out. its air pruning itself, so want to act fast.
