They already run. Your light too far or inefficient . I never liked any harm, especially in such young stage. There is way more good techniques how to manipulate with plant, than just castrating it.

First time grower I tried to top 2 plants in the same way but one main shoot stopped growing, but the other had two new growths come right out of the old stem, as well as 2 bushier side stems.
