Are humidity domes a good idea for seedlings? Usually, before using the dome, I had almost 100% germination and with the dome I'm losing 60% of my seeds to damping off, mold issues or sometimes seeds dont even sprout. Dome at 78f and 75% humidity under 2 2ft t5 6400k

Keep it simple , with a dome you have 60% of success and without 100% so don't think about it too long. Usually humidity domes are a good idea for the 1st week of the life of the plant as it is the time when she needs between 80/90% humidity to thrive well but if the excess of humidity can't get out of the dome you'll be at 100% and the humidity will become water and create a perfect environment for the mold/fungus 😊 don't use them

Hi @JRABTHEARAB! Short answer: no! Domes are great for making clones, but not for germination. Fresh seedlings could appreciate a heat-carpet, but a closed dome creates too much relative humidity and a lack of airflow. I'm using the same method as @LongJohn420, 24h in a glass of temperated water then 48-72h in a cup full of coco soaked with some root stimulator, humid acid and a slight dose of Nitrogen. I usually have a 100% germination success rate, no matter the breeder nor the season. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and good luck with those beauties! 👊

If you have good germination "habit" that works why chance? I just use glass of water and after small tail they go to warm bed with 50/50 All mix / coco coir. then just hand spraying them with water couple times a day.. I tried some rockwool cubes and whatnot but allways I come back to my old working method happy grows!

If your ambient humidity is low like mine currently is(40%) then yes humidity domes are great! 75% humidity really isn't too high but if you are having mold issues it sounds like you need more air exchange in there. When I start seedlings I don't leave the dome fully sealed. Mine has little air vents on top and I crack both about 1/3rd of the way for the first few days and then crack em halfway with a fan blowing over the top of the dome. I also make sure to remove the dome every day and give them 10-15min without the dome. This will replenish the air in the dome and make sure the humidity doesn't stay too high. I have a 100% seed germ rate doing it this way.
