stop defoliating like that, as others said -- read 'to defoliate or not..' on cocoforcannabis.com. Their guides and articles have the least amount of bro science you can find, but their forums and user-submitted stuff is just as suspect as every other grow site, lol.
when you flip to flower isn't a maybe... it's cause and effect... how much space needs to be filled by this plant? if it's filling roughly 1/2 of that space, it's good to go. It's not something you ponder. You have a goal or target, you wait for an observable trigger and you send it into flower.
Lots of genetic variety out there, so over time you'll learn the best happy-zone as far as how much space is left to fill... the older the plant the more potential to grow after flip (assumes growth is not limited by pot size or enviornment etc... common sense stuff). A 4-week vege might double and a 8 week vege might triple... then genetic variety on top of that...
don't overthink what you can't control... take a note, a pictur ewhatever to keep track of how/when you flipped and adjust your process based on results... not every garden has teh same growth rate so how you do things makes when you flip different than anyone else.
