22 Late unforced clones

Northern_Ent July 13: late start clones will be unforced to see what happens. The days are long here until the fall and then the hours and light intensity drop quickly. Likely won’t produce much but let’s see what happens. July 18: under shade cloth all week.

Northern_Ent July 25: kept under shade cloth so far but now getting big enough for full sun.

Northern_Ent Lost a couple of these but planting the clones from the CloneKing into soil in 3 gallon bags and placed directly outside has worked nicely. This location is far enough North that there are enough light hours for the clones to grow without immediately starting to flower. This is tougher to do further south, but here at 53 N it works fine.

Northern_Ent Aug 5: five plants will be “phyto-forced” using a 730 nm far red light for a few seconds at dusk, and a control group of four clones will remain unforced. First night of far red light went well. Plants look very trippy when illuminated. Aug 6: power out briefly at dusk so missed second night of forcing. Aug 7: using far red light starting at time of “Civil Twilight” as listed on timeanddate.com for Edmonton which is about 10:00 pm now.

Northern_Ent Sep 7: late season hailstorm did minor damage to some plants but these were still young and flexible and didn’t sustain much damage.

Northern_Ent Sep 26: topped up soil level and moved into the last sunny spot in the grow area. The grow area gets pretty shaded by mid-September.

Northern_Ent Oct 4: might actually produce usable buds before frost. Nice colours. Added a handful of malted barley as a top dressing.

Northern_Ent Oct 17: ideally these would get a few more weeks or moved indoors, but I’ll just harvest them in two days on the last nice day before we get freezing temps. These were just a timing experiment to see how they’d do in the available time. Oct 18: have been watering with 25 C water in late morning once the sun is up for the day. The idea being to warm the soil while there is direct sun to promote flowering at this late stage. Oct 22: forecast improved so still going for a few more days. Oct 23: harvested 8 Bubble OG and one Hash Bud clone for total 850 g. Bubble OG was not ready but weather turns cold soon. HB was nearly ripe. 850 g wet from nine clones.

These were ‘phyto-forced’ using a far red (730 nm) light at dusk to initiate and promote flowering. They had about eight weeks of flowering but likely needed about 10 weeks. It was an experiment to see how they’d do and it was better than I thought it would be due to the great fall weather. These eight clones were not as mature as the single Hash Bud clone which was also slightly bigger.
