1st grow - RQS Northern Light Auto

chill_grower Bought a 150W CFL light to keep her indoors since it's very windy and cloudy outside. Unfortunately I'm away on vacation and won't be able to document her second week... I watered her good and hope it's enough. See you soon precious!

chill_grower I was away for a week, and how she grew! Beautifully tall and proud. I bet she would have liked to be watered last week, but now I'm able to take care of her again. I'll be introducing light nutrients in a day or two.

chill_grower This week I'm finally starting to see some problems. Having no equipment to check PH, EC, temperature or humidity, it's normal that there are some unbalanced parameters that I don't know of... Some leaves have thin yellow marks around their edges, and some white dots appared on one specific leaf. I've been feeding her with 1L of water plus nutrients every three days, no pure water in between, and maybe this is nutrient burn? Well, let's see. I'll be away for a week, another person will feed her but won't be able to perform LST.

chill_grower This is my first week moving her outdoors, since my CFL light is only appropriate for the vegetation period and I started to see a few white pistils on her main stem. So excited for this, finally the flowering is starting! I got the nutrients wrong, gave her too much Top Max and too little Acti Vera, but I don't know if she had a problem with it :D

chill_grower This week wasn't great. The plant started getting yellow edges and yellow spots, and some bugs (I suspect aphids) started to appear on some leaves. It got progressively worse with time, which I didn't really understand until I measured the pH. Having no economical means to purchase an expensive pH reader I had to use a cheaper one which only indicates the range of values in which the pH's in. I used it in runoff water and the color is as shown; I interpreted it at 5.5, which is very low. Perhaps nutrient lockout + nutrient burn is the cause for this, I don't know.

chill_grower It's impressive how much they grow. She's still, in my opinion, not that healthy, but she still grows and produces her buds beautifully. The main cola seems like it will produce big buds, seeing how the flowers are spread throughout the stem. I introduced 0.8ml of Calmag to correct a possible calcium deficiency, Idk if it is but I will tune it down to 0.5ml.

chill_grower Hi friends! I decreased the amount of nutrients given because I realized, much to my deep frustration and sadness, that almost since the beginning of flowering I've been giving her too little nutrients. The chart says "x ml per liter of water" and I was just giving nutrients as if it was only 1L, the rest I just filled with plain water. So the poor thing is probably hungry for nutrients ever since she started needing more than 1 liter of water, and that may have affected the yield. Another thing, honestly, could you tell me what you think of her? I think I'm wasting the seed's potential, I think she could be bigger. But with 8-9 hours of direct sunlight per day, strong winds, and now this nutrient problem... :/ Well, I'll rectify the nutrients and let's wait!

chill_grower Hi! I've now adjusted the nutrient quantities, giving her 2L of water and double the amount of nutrients I was giving before. Is it my wishful thinking or did she fatten up a lil bit? :D I think I know what prevented her from growing to her full potential, besides the unpredictable weather conditions and the lack of nutrients: I LST'd too hard. The Fastbuds blog said "only tie two or three branches every 3-4 days to give the plant time to adapt and recover" and I remember tying alll the branches that needed tying in a 2 hour session, a really bondage session lol. So yeah, this may have stunted her, as well as keeping those ties until now, mid flowering. What do you folks think?

chill_grower I started some light defoliation of the main fan leaves, since they will no longer be needed and she's just fatttening up at this point. The smell is so pleasant, but surprisingly discreet! I really appreciate that. Next week I'm going to harvest her! Can't wait.

chill_grower My first harvest and trim session! This was a joy and a privilege to do, although tiring hahaha. Only started flushing in the beginning of this week, I wish I had flushed more, but the leaves yellowed nevertheless. The thricomes were right where I wanted them, not too ambar, mostly milky. I really love her aroma, but because I'm a complete weed noob I can't figure out if it's diesel, earthy, flowery, fruity... it's just a lovely smell of weed, I still need to discover new terpene profiles in order to learn this. I have smoked her before curing, and it left me so high, like somebody was commanding my body and speech in autopilot! 😂 my time perception was weird too, I thought 2 hours had passed and turned out to be 15min... It was wild, a heavy indica high, highly recommend it hahaha Thank you for very much everyone who commented and liked the diary, I enjoyed sharing these with you, and I hope someone out there benefits from it!
