This week the girls were covered in snow. I've never seen anything like it with my own eyes before, only in pictures :D The lower large leaves have turned yellow, but this time don't panic :D experts say it's normal.

Things are looking good. I'm in a bit of a time crunch so I think I'm going to harvest early. Sometime this week probably, just shy of 8 weeks. Cool strain to grow. Very interesting calyx formations at the crowns. I dried a couple small buds and threw them in my vape a few days later and the terpenes seem great. Can't wait to see how it tastes fully cured. I'm going to wash and decarb the buds before curing them, and I've never done that before, so I'll post that here too. Thanks to everyone who read and commented! Happy growing!

Day 59: There is little left to my first harvest in 2019. As buds continue to swell and resin starts to see some orange pistil. I think that in order to complete the cycle of these six Gorillas, there are only a couple of weeks to get to the standard eleven weeks. The smell of the resin is very strong and I have to ventilate the room several times during the day. Given the approach of the first harvest I put some other seeds in the soil. 😄 P.S. I chose one of the predominantly indica plants for the first taste. This plant has received only water for the last five days instead of the usual 10/12 and although I would have to wait another 10/15 days before it is completely dry, this Saturday I will break some buds smaller and I will smoke it 😋 Once the first plant has dried, and the crop is tasted, I will add more data such as flavor and real definitive weight. For the remaining five plants I will follow all my standards without breaking basic rules and I will make a progressive crop. Yesterday was my birthday and I got to smoke a lot (about 45 grams) in the company of twenty friends, everyone appreciated the taste and power of the effect perhaps amplified by some beer, but still very strong. No one has coughed, the smoke goes down smooth and clean and the effect is practically immediate. The terpenes of limonene and pinene dominate every flavor. The aftertaste is fresh and sweet and smoking a lot at the end the limonene prevails. For a final consideration on the edible taste I will have to wait to have made some butter to make biscuits or brownies. As I wrote the effect is very strong, salt immediately and at the beginning seems energizing, but shortly after passing the joint hits you with a baseball bat to the back of the neck 😵 After the fifth joint you are now on a psychedelic journey and you will continue to laugh for hours. At the moment I do not have a THC analyzer (object I want to buy in the future) but based on my personal experience I think it is well over 20%. Stimulates appetite, thirst (excellent if combined with a double malt blond beer) and can be used to effectively fight insomnia. 👊

5/25 this plant is starting to gain some vigor finally. Has some real nice healthy color and I'm happy with where she is and/or where she will go once flowering commences. Week 2: The adjustment Hello dear growers and groweresses, it’s time for an update on my grow. My plants have completed the second week and have continued to grow. But they also faced some challenges that I will tell you about. The adjustment My plants have adapted to the new conditions in my room this week. I realized that I had my lamps too close to the plants and that they got too much light and heat. This resulted in them not developing as well as I had hoped. I therefore hung my lamps higher and reduced the intensity of the light. I lowered the PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) from 400 to 280, to give the plants a more comfortable environment. The PPFD is a measure of the amount of light that the plants receive per square meter and second. The higher the PPFD, the more light the plants get, but also the more nutrients and water they need. The plants accepted the change very well and recovered quickly. They started to grow stronger again and formed more leaves. They also got a nicer color and look healthier. One plant that suffered a lot was the Frosty Nightmare. She was overwatered and had trouble developing. She was smaller and weaker than the others and had yellow tips on the leaves. I therefore gave her less water and moved her away from the other plants, to give her more space and air. She recovered and grew again. She is still the smallest of all, but she has potential. I also increased the temperature in my room by 1 degree, to give the plants more heat. I set the temperature from 22 to 23 degrees Celsius, which is still in the optimal range for the plants. The plants liked that and showed me that by their growth. I let them vote democratically, by observing the plants and interpreting their reactions. :D The water filter I also want to introduce you to my water filter from Watertrim, which I use for my grow. It is a great product that saves me a lot of time and money and is also better for the environment. The water filter has only two connections: an inlet and an outlet. So it has no waste water, which would otherwise go into the drain. It has different options of the filter, depending on how much water you want to filter and how high the EC value of the tap water is. The EC value is a measure of the electrical conductivity of the water, which depends on the dissolved minerals. The higher the EC value, the more minerals are in the water, which are not always good for the plants. My filter filters at an inlet EC of 1.0 1000 liters, before it needs to be renewed. Since my tap water has an EC of 0.5, I can filter 2000 liters with it, until I have to renew it. That costs about 100 euros and works easily and quickly via the post. The flow is almost 1 to 1 in speed, so no more waiting. I can tap the water directly from the filter and use it for my grow. I use the filter as follows: I tap water at the filter. I pour normal tap water on it, until I have an EC of 0.3. I add fertilizers etc., depending on what the plants need. I check the EC again and adjust it if necessary. I also adjust the pH value, which should be between 6.2 and 6.5, to ensure optimal nutrient uptake. I give the water to my plants. The water filter is really a great product, even if it is not very cheap in the purchase with once of 240 - 390 euros. My plants have adapted well and recovered from the problems. They have grown further and formed more leaves. They have recovered well and showed a great growth. I am very excited about the next week, where it goes to the repotting and the ladies can try fertilizer for the first time. Week 8 and the blue dream keeps getting taller and buds are growing slowly, but she seems to be growing very good I also added the led full spectrum lights on the sides for my seedlings since my other two died because i didnt have enough Light and they been helping a lot .. purple lemonade is growing slower but looking good hopefully this next week she does better

Tag 63 - Beginn der 10 Woche. Die Blätter haben sich diese Woche leider weiter verschlechtert, Blätter vertrocknen und sterben ab, zudem kommt, dass ich an den einzelnen Blättern Anzeichen von Stickstoff oder Eisenmangel wahrgenommen habe. Deshalb habe ich den ph-wert weiter gesenkt um der Pflanze die Aufnahme der Nährstoffe zu erleichtern. Seit dem ich Mitte letzter Woche den pH-wert gesenkt habe, habe ich den Eindruck, dass das Blattsterben sich verlangsamt hat. Ich werde das weiter beobachten. Leider kann ich nach wie vor nichts gegen das übermäßige Licht und die Hitze an der Pflanzenspitze machen. Jedoch bin ich beeindruckt wie viele Fehler die Pflanze einem verzeiht, denn die Buds einwickeln sich weiterhin super, sind frostig und duften wahnsinnig süß! Ich bin weiterhin gespannt wie sie sich die nächste Zeit macht und werde weiterhin mein bestes geben um ihr den Stress zu reduzieren. Gedüngt wurde an Tag 58 der letzten Woche. Into the second week of flower now, due for another defol before the stretch ends and the last defol of the grow then let the girls recover and focus on the flowers, cuttings are showing lots of roots 11 days after planting, high humidity in the propagation container and the ezy plugs make it a breeze

Trichomes do not discriminate, although we like to think of trichomes' primary purpose as being to get us high; they are there to provide photoprotection (sunscreen). Trichomes apply themselves based on area dimensions; the more area = the more trichomes in order to protect. Different from density: Trichomes, the resinous glands on plants, are often produced in response to stress, including high light intensity. This increased production can lead to denser trichome coverage on the plant, stress, stress, stress, stress is the signal. There is a certain beauty in watching the large water-filled buds once swollen to the brim slowly shrink during drying, as the surface areas contract, the trichomes just cluster up to form denser and denser coatings, already dense from high light intensities, UVB exposure, and IPS, and every other stressor I could tweak. This leads to a far more focused production of specific antioxidants, like THC. Plants also produce antioxidants during the day to scavenge ROS made from photosynthesis. The differential ROS production by blue and IR light can have significant biological consequences. For example, high levels of ROS induced by blue light can lead to cell damage and death, while lower levels of ROS produced by IR light may be involved in beneficial cellular signaling pathways. Long nights under the IR (very low ROS), the boost in cellular respiration, and the boost in energy production. In a perfect world, I'd give the plant a shock treatment of 60DLI in 4 hours and give her the other 20 hours to perform cellular respiration under IR. The stress of those 4 hours would be rigorous and full of stress abound, 1800-2000ppm CO2 is easy for a couple of hours during daylight, it's maintaining it that's hard, but 4 hours is very doable with nothing but a little extra "carbon sugar" in your medium every other night during the first 4 weeks of flower. In my opinion, you only need to jack CO2 for those first 4 weeks of flower to see maximal output, after that it's all about trichome preservation, everything else comes second. Without the temps to assist with metabolism, CO2 is reduced to normal levels along with temps 4-5th week of flower. Buds are primarily composed of water. Developing flower buds, like other plant tissues, require a significant amount of water for growth and turgor pressure, which helps maintain their structure and firmness. Turgor pressure in plant cells is primarily generated by osmosis, but transpiration plays a crucial role in maintaining it. The optimal internal leaf surface temperature for photosynthesis at 1800-2000ppm CO2 is likely in the upper range of 97°F, meaning ambient would need to sit at 102°F-ish or thereabout for full metabolic utilization. That's putting your transpirational pulling force x5 x6 maybe x7 of what it would be if she were cruising at 68F. "My buds won't fatten, what can I do!!" Crank it. If your purpose was to blow up a balloon as fast as you can, as much as you can, would you use 2x force or x5 Force to do so? Bad analogy, but you get the idea. Kiss. BUT Only 10% ATP can be processed through photosynthesis and carbon capture. 90% of ATP is processed when the plant's oxidative capacity becomes available (NIGHTTIME). Cellular respiration relies on the process of oxidation to generate energy. Specifically, the final stage of cellular respiration, called oxidative phosphorylation, utilizes oxygen as the final electron acceptor to produce a substantial amount of ATP, the cell's primary energy currency.
