Plants came down at day 53. Nice weight and drying commenced. More purple coloring and smell is amazingly fruity

Day 60F The PM on the cheese has gotten significantly worse in the last few days. I think it may have something to do with the constant humidity spikes every time I water. I haven’t been running my humidifier at all in flower so maybe it’s having trouble keeping the RH up during lights on. Just another reason to follow a daily watering schedule. The cheese and slurricane look fucking disgusting and I’m starting to doubt that a peroxide wash can totally fix it. It worked well for my outdoor crop so it should be fine but this time there is probably 3x the amount. I’ll make sure to really soak the buds and rinse them off good. Bbb#1 is flopping over like crazy from the weight. Too late to stake it up now so hopefully it holds until next week. Starting to foxtail a bit but nothing too bad. It is now 100% done and ready for chop. Bbb#2 is just getting frostier and frostier by the day. The purple fade is really coming along nicely too. Might reveg. It is now 100% done and ready for harvest. Black garlic #1 is finally filling out! I can’t believe it. Never heard of a plant packing weight on like that in week 8. The breeder did mention that it packs on weight later but I’m stunned. Taking her to 9.5 weeks. Black garlic #2 is looking very average. Average color, average size buds, average frost, average smell, probably an average yield. And it’s starting to get a bit of PM. Overall not happy. Will be taking her to 9.5 weeks. Zkittlez #1 has pleasantly surprised me. It was a bushy runt in veg but came through. It’s the third frostiest in the tent, super dense, stacked tight, smells great and looks great. It’s already got a nice amount of amber so it’s 100% ready for chop. Slurricane #4 looks insanely frosty even under all that PM. If I can’t wash it off it’s going in the trash. I want to chop this asap but have to cut everything at once unfortunately. It’s 100% ready for harvest. Badazz OG cheese is looking like a decent yielder but doesn’t have much else going for it. I think it still has some filling out to do. I can’t even smell the final profile change yet. The leaves are rotting off very quickly. Taking her 9.5 weeks. I don’t mind harvesting a bit later rather than early. From my outdoor experience, when a plant is picked early it smells like hay and wet grass clippings until it’s been curing for 3 weeks. When I harvest late or at 30-50% amber trichomes it smells like same scent profile it had when growing. Just my experience. I’ve read that the tobacco industry adds calcium and potassium carbonate to their crops to help promote fire holding capacity and to increase the whiteness of ash. Turns out some of the organic amendments I bought last week contain exactly that. I’m going to give each plant a light top dress to see if the tobacco industry is onto something.

I am glad the 3rd time the charm with this one. Seeds are on the smallish side, I suggest the breeders start the reversal process 2 weeks prior to treatment, allowing more time for everything to form this will allow for bigger seeds in the end and should resolve this tiny seed problem. As you can see with this 3rd time the charm, it is really growing well. Due to a miscalculation I do not have any room for it as yet so it will have to stay small and bushy in the seedling station until i can make some room somewhere. I will use some tricks to make it grow small and compact. Here is one of my biggest old school hacks my great uncle showed me when I was very small. I always place all of my seed into a magnetic field for a few seconds, this aligns the ferrite molecules in the seeds unlocking their genetic potential. Numerous authors have established the positive influence of the stationary magnetic field on the plant seeds. The treatment fastens plants development, improves germination and seedling growth, and activates protein formation and enzymes activity. I also like to use corse sandpaper rolled into a tube and then shake my seeds in this tube, which scrapes the outside of the hard seed shells allowing for easier water ingress. I then place the seeds to soak in the seaweed water at about 25c for 12 to 24 hours. Once The seeds have cracked open I gently place them into a seedling soil mix in a 6" pot and then placed into the warm, moist arms of the seedling station. Which will protect and nurture them until it it time to go into their final pots. I find that this method ensures germination and quick, vigorous growth. It is a particularly good method to use on very old seeds and/or seeds that were not stored correctly. Also I no longer disinfect my seeds because new studies have shown the plants actually place bacteria on the outside of the shell of the seed and inside the seed to ensure the plant has all it needs to thrive

Harvest: Everything dried up to 347 grams + 96 grams of super high quality trim. Overall I am not too pleased with the smoke of the product. Although the bud size, bag appeal, smell and taste are pretty much all there, the shitty burn is a deal breaker for me and the majority of this weed is quite frankly useless. Another downside is while smoking I’ve found 4 seeds in an ounce from almost every strain. Light leaks? At least I learned a ton, including how to get super good burn for my next crop. I’m hoping that curing for a month or so will improve the burn but I wouldn’t really count on it. I have seen weed dried for 4 days with no cure and no flush smoke clean and not go out once. I have been told that the key to white ashes/clean burn is proper mineral content in the soil and there is tons of scientific studies on cigar ash going back 100 years. Plants grown in a medium with high levels of decomposing organic matter, phosphorus, magnesium, chlorine and heavy metal ratio tend to produce black/grey ash. Whereas plants grown in a medium with a higher ratio of trace minerals like calcium carbonate and potassium in the form of wood ash, rock dusts, oyster shell flour and lower levels of decomposing organic matter will produce a dense, uniform white ash that rarely goes out. But this is still all theory until I test it to confirm for myself a few times. My last few outdoor harvests did not improve with curing at all so I’m hoping this will be the missing link. Plain peat moss and coco clearly lack essential minerals that help burn. If said theory is correct I should find a synthetic nutrient line with more trace minerals. Makes me wonder if growing if rockwool/basalt rock could improve burn in a hydro setup. I think I did a fairly decent job for my first grow. I went wrong in a million different places but I still stuck it out and got some decent herb. Things went wrong early when I got black spot mold, nitrogen/magnesium deficiencies and powdery mildew. I corrected most of it but things didn’t get really bad until mid veg when I intentionally skipped a few feedings and defoliated quite heavily stunting the plants. I also didn’t even top or start LST until the 6-9th node which was really stupid and hurt my yield. My temperatures were all over the place from the learning curve. I was severely overwatering without realizing it. 100% peat moss is a shitty medium. I also fed way too late in flower (not what caused shitty burn). I also used synthetic nutrients in soil. Basically I'm taking this as new hobby. I don't smoke but since I was 16 that I wanted to embrace a grow project. 18 years later, decided to get my hands to the work, bearing in mind that it should be as simple as possible. Ordered 3 easy bud seeds, germinated all 3, only 2 survived on the soil, mostly because of my technique. For me, it's all about learning so I did some experiences. 3 different soils, 3 different planting techniques and this is the result so far. The one that died, was due muddy soil, so she drown. No oxygen. Started this project with a simple indoor greenhouse, 160x40x60cm size, 2 daylight lamps 11 watts, 6300 kelvin and roughly 700 lumen each, 1 usb cooling fan. Distance from the lamps to the seeds +20 centimetres, which you can see on day 3, we had a lot of stretching (video). Nevertheless, started to see some life!!! Decided to take the project more seriously. We are now on the day 4, with a new setup. Adequate soil, carefully buried both plants in bigger vases and new lights. 4 cfl lamps, 1297 lumen, 97 watts and 6300 kelvin. I was about to buy the cfl pure light lamp 125 watts but found these cfl's at leroy merlin. I wanted to keep this low budget/experimental project as much as possible, therefore after doing some calculations I found that with these 4 lamps I would roughly get the same lumens and watts I would get with the pure light lamp. Tiny Potter grow for the contest is coming along nice. She just stretched a lot. She is progressing into flowering nicely. She is really root bound badly. So draining is extremely slow. I feed her twice a day to try to keep wet, and ph in check. She is growing great. Curious to see how she finishes. 🤞 for another trophy 🏆. She has done great under the Mars Hydro FC4800 light.
