Another freezing cold week !! Before having this plant, i thought that a plant would never survive with this temperatures... but this Afghan Kush proved im wrong, whats amazing because this plants strenght is remarkable, the buds i noticed, are not developing as fast as in September/October, basic grower logic but we are having between 8-14 ºC during the day and 2-5ºC at night.. Wider range of colours, i spot like Purple, Deep green, and even shades of Violet and blue, its incredible :D Last feedings, finished like in the middle of this week and the buds developement degree is telling me, its flush time ... Spotted a few white aphids, but only on the leaves, so not a problem.. Having in mind the temperatures they are not lasting so much hahaha its the good thing Last weeks of life, and i suppose she will be yellowing more during the next week. This week is looking good and the babies are coming along great, I'm loving the way pheno 1 is so symmetric, large and in charge! I started out this grow with a bit of a hick up because of the pandemic but I tell you one thing, foliar feeding saved my plants! I foliar feed my seedlings at around 200ppm I use some micro nutes, along with amino mix to foliar feed. The foliar feeding definitely makes the plants more robust, they end up feeling hard and strong! I Usually foliar feed until I flip to flower then no more!

How did you create/breed Freakshow? A. Methodical selection, line breeding, and culling is the short answer. Read our About page for more details. Q. Is it an indoor or outdoor type? A. Everything I've ever worked has been outdoors, including of course Freakshow. No, the mature seeds are shrouded by a rice paper thin membrane which has coloring and mottling on it, but it's so fragile that it disintegrates in the process of shucking. Stripped of the outer layer the seeds are very pale, nearly white. It came as no surprise that this plant would have abnormal seeds. Q. Is it a GMO? A. Wow...? Q. Is it a big producer? A. The same set of variables apply to expected outcomes regarding cannabinoid levels and terpene profiles. Q.What is the lineage? A. (Bigbud x Skunk#1) x (Big Sur Holy Weed x Banana Kush). The exact heritage of any cultivar today is impossible to determine accurately. Also, considering the amount of continuous shameless hybridization that has occurred in the last 40 yrs., any modern kind could easily contain over 40 kinds. In the case of Freakshow, it's much more limited because the ancestry is largely older "Sativas" that didn't go through as much outcrossing. In the 70s in Santa Cruz, Haze was a favorite among surfers for the pure energy and I still have (greatly improved) stock of it around, simply because even when I made hybrids with it I always kept the original in pure form for obvious reasons. Q. What is the psychoactive effect like? A. Like the flavors, many people have commented that the "buzz" is somewhat different than other mainstream types out there. It's not entirely out of the scope of imagination that given that this strain has new alleles in so many other respects, that it could also contain new, unique cannabinoids, as well as new and unique terpenoids, some of which may not even be among the standard 16 or so that the average lab is testing for. Aside from the up, cerebral, energetic boost, some report a mild time/space warp effect. Creativity and idea induction should be mentioned, for sure. I thought I better clarify this because there are a few people thinking that because of an article "Growing Marijuana that Doesn't look like Marijuana" that mentions that I had worked web-leaf types years ago and had eventually turned that into Freakshow. This is incorrect and I'm needing to get ahold of the writer to have him change it. When I read the piece and saw the mistake I figured it didn't matter that much, that the actual method of breeding could just remain a "trade secret". Recently, I noticed online that a posting, "Freakshow only exists because of duckfoot" by Curious Cannabis Connoisseur, where he explains how I developed Freakshow using Duckfoot. Let me explain, about 20 yrs. ago a friend gave me a jar of seeds labeled "BC Bigbud" and I sprouted flats of hundreds to look for oddities and had found one web-leaf pheno which we named Webster. It was a female so I bred it to a normal leaf male and began selecting and stabilizing a line of Webster. About 5 or 6 generations later I had nailed it to 100% webs and had also stabilized it for a deep purple color and a nice "gingerbread" terp profile. I was busy working other lines at that point so I put Webster in the library. Also, I was having a hell of a time getting a pheno of it that flowered to my satisfaction. (it seemed to finish with a limited number of calyxes). I knew I would have to outcross it to something with a big tasty bud and restabilize it for web-leaf, and I no longer had the original BC Bigbud. I still have the Webster seeds, and trust me the thought has crossed my mind to make the cross with Freakshow, but why? Why mess around crossing things just to create something even weirder? I have heard that the "Duckfoot" also doesn't bud up well so maybe there's a correlation there. Anyway, people can do what they want to and I will too, but crossing Freakshow with some low-THC crap like ABC is in my opinion idiotic. I worked extremely hard stabilizing and perfecting a beautiful new subspecies and I believe it should be kept pure. I won't go on a rant here about the rampant crossing and the lack of line-breeding in the cannabis world in the last several decades, or where this will eventually lead us, but I will say that it's not in a good direction. Bottom line....Freakshow has no web-leaf genes, it was made using top-grade tropical narrow-leaf drug (NLD) cultivars. Q.Why is Freakshow patented? A. Although I and most others (including all the folks at HSC) believe in and subscribe to the concept of "open sourcing" because sharing in cannabis genetics was always the cultural norm, it was decided that Freakshow should be protected (1) because it is a novel and unique, not a preexisting strain (or even subspecies), (2) To keep the greedy corporate big boys from exploiting it, (3) To maintain control of the genetic refinement of it in all future generations. This plant has been growing unbelievably well. She has not only grown fast but evenly. I've been doing some pruning of the tiny lower bud sites that won't grow into much and doing some more LST to let more light in.

Day 73, 25th of November 2020: Hi! Well they are getting nice maturing buds getting bigger and all good. I love the red colour of the Red Hot Cookies. Unfortunately, Tropicanna Poison and Red Mandarnine does not show any signs of purple or red colour. Kalini Asia neither albeit, the bonsai version gets purple. Gelato is little beauty. So yes, basically not much to say. Fertilization is still the same every second day with the ratio and mixture above stated. The lamp is on 11.15 min and off 12.45 min. Last week was 15 min longer light cycle.... So every week 15 min shorter light cycle until the 5th week. So far -45 min. It switches on at 6 am and off at 17.15 pm.

Start of week 15. A little defoliation and LST training on a few branches. The grow medium has not dried out enough since last week's repotting, so no feeding at this time. Update 6/15, moved to flowering room and 12/12 light.

Week 10, so from today I stopped watering the Gelato Cookie D'ohpe and on Saturday no more light as well. Sunday is harvest day finally. Not much changed, I raised up the water with 25ml so the Purple Punch gets 200ml 2 x a day. That's all, since last week I started giving 13 hours darkness and 11 hours light and from Monday will be 12/12 after I harvested the Gelato Cookie D'ohpe and I can use the tent only for her. Fertilization will happen on the same days. Sunday fun day, Gelato Cookie D'ohpe is harvested. Purple Punch left alone. From tomorrow I will switch the light schedule 12/12. End of the week Purple Punch is 43 cm.

F50 Day 50 of flowering Humboldt Sour Diesel SD2 smells like vaseline/engine grease and tire burning with an oil/kerosine spill. The smell will get in your nose whether you like it or not and the smell has a thickness to it. SD3 smells like sweet oranges but mostly engine grease. A warm aroma,very pleasant. The buds are firm.

Not going to go into much detail on the individual plants this week since there is nothing exciting to report. Only note this week is something we all pretty much know already. Organics and hydroponics dont play well together! I was using gringo Rasta calmag and it clogged all my feed lines. I ordered some calimagic so this wont be an issue anymore. Everyone is growing well and stretching quite a bit. I started spreading a couple of them into the scrog and gave them some maxibloom. I will increase it as I lower the maxigro over the next couple weeks. Pretty boring right now, but stick around a few weeks and that might change.

Second week of flowering, the girl is getting very healthy, all previous symptoms have disappeared. I am continuing the LST by pulling some rods in a way that all the tops are receiving direct light (Wish I have a scrog network to make the job more efficient) and I defoliated and cutted some buds and lower leaves that did not reach the light. Next week, I'm thinking of turning on the dehumidifier, trying to lower the humidity below 50% See you next week Happy growth guys

The girls are moving along nicely just watering with water ph to 6.4 this week as I top dressed with Gaia green 4-4-4.Spider farmer Se7000 dialed in at 30 percent and to the ceiling.Noticed some minor deficiencies Day 12 and check soil slurry 50/50 soil/water and the ppm was at 780 lil high at this early stage and the culprit.Going to work on lowering that a bit this week.I did add a top layer of fox farm ocean forest as well which runs a little hot with nutrients rather than the pro mix.I have to remember with these beautiful auto flowers less is better :)
