@m0use, okay maybe we got some common ground here and got us off on the wrong foot. I agree, that all distribution of prizes should be fair and square, no funny business. I just don't see how "a cap" on memes solves that. I mean every system has flaws and people will take advantage of that. Since there is no other rules for the contest, a cap would encourage people to use multiple accounts. My suggestion is to only allow accounts with an active and verified profile. The problem with that is how do you define/detect "active" or "real" accounts. If there is a problem with ban evasion, people should need to verify their identity to take part in contests or to be on the website. Plain and simple. But that takes time and effort by GD to enforce such measures. I guess for many users that would go too far because of data collection and so on. And the cost for that is probably higher than the prize money, so they don't care. In the end the jury will decide which memes they like and make a decision. Humor is subjective. I just looked at previous meme contests and I really didn't like the way people tried to ingratiate themselves with the sponsor. Killed the vibe for me. I like the free meme spirit more. I found this website a couple of months ago and started making diaries. I liked the idea because I documented my grows anyway. At first I didn't even know there's contests like these. So I can't really talk about what happened in the past. I just enjoy that I found a place to share my hobby with other enthusiasts and learn more about it. Winning some prizes along the way is just the icing on the cake. The way you phrased it didn't appear to me that you meant it in a funny or mocking way. I got that wrong it seems but I responded because you implied something that was not my intention. That's what i care about. You didn't drop any names but it's obvious who you referred to, isn't it? And yes I didn't like that. Criticizing the rules is one thing, to tar everyone with the same brush is another. So i guess I'm only a spammer and not part of the weirdos yet, I play by the rules. :smile: Don't call a swan a duck, it will bite. That "cameltoe" story sounds intriguing. Would you like to tell us more about it?

@Antifame, Yea wrong foot I think, good to see we can work shit out like humans, its nice to find ppl who can think critically on the site. just sucks that emotions and tone don't translate well via text. to your point of branded meems, The previous meme contests where all ran by FastBuds and they had to be fastbuds related or they where not considered for voting. Their voting system was done on their instagram page and it had a few common people winning a lot as they unlocked the code of what fastbuds likes. It has some obvious biases and they where that not all the memes where voted on in a fair manner, they had a cap of 10 memes a person and the ones that made it to the final vote where all picked by the fastbuds team first. Given humor is subjective I found they picked a lot of bad memes IMO. things that would be very pg13 and did not push the envlope of what I find funny and kept their instagrame safe from unwanted attention. after all they running a business account, I myself have a very dry and dark sence of humor that is not shared by everyone and found most of them lackluster... sometimes they would nail a good one. I also would have used an account just for that in case it got burned. When their accounts did get burned, their was not any official communication on where the voting was happening and I feel some users may have exploited that voting system to win. and they even came out and said they detected some unsavory behaviours once with voting issues. Made me wonder how they detected it, could they have missed it before, and how are they going to stop it from happening again?? also was it a troll trying to make one person look bad and get banned or was it the user... its hard to say. Trolls here are getting creative but normally not that smart. lol. I would like if accounts here were verified somehow if your winning prizes to avoid doubles/cheats and fakes, but its hard to do that with weed being illegal in a lot of places and even where it is legal. most people do not want the attention should their data get leaked.... and fun story. GD had a massive breach of data back in the day. can google it to find out more. Its why I have never used my real name or address on this site. Its my friends and I go their and pickup stuff if they ship it. They also don't care and if anyone comes looking for anything can be like IDK this person does not live here and never has, ask the landlord. still a simple excell flagging postal codes and same addresses could be usefull on an offline tool not conected to anything. But many times cheats have won, however to GD credit they are getting better at cracking down on that shit. I think more ppl should join this contest and it should be funny and free to all like you are saying. I also just feel excess memes is an unfair advantage. Most of us are reuseing our old fastbuds memes, and fastbuds is still hostin their contest on discord or something so I think ppl will continue to use their memes in their to avoid to much work. As for cameltoe,,,, they are a individual who uses a porn stars likeness to gain a following, let em die in the past where they belong. to much drama and crazy bat shit things about them. @Antifame, Its not so much hostility just pointing out sus behaviors on the site.. cash prices creates weirdo's, and that's a fact. seen it time and time again in any other contest. ppl get crazy. brings em out of the woodwork. prime example was Cameltoe in the older summer buds contests they went batshit and got their account banned in the aftermath, they have been back with burner accounts ever since and doing the same shit lol. So yes ppl do make fake accounts and this site has a problem with them. Its not unheard of or unseen. Trolls plague GOTM contest a lot and these. very common. I would like to believe you saying its not about the money however I have not seen or can not recall you participating in the contest previous months before GD took it over and then you dumped over 30 memes in this month, its just off behavior vs the social norm of previous months. Maybe you have been a part of it and I have not noticed?? very good chance of that, and maybe you have a love of memes and what to share em, it's the change in behaviors that I was pointing out, did not name drop just said it was funny two ppl alone have over 50% of the memes in this contest and you went in on that.. Change does not just happen on its own its normally has a trigger. that trigger appears to be money, but again, maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe it was cuz you also uploaded 30 memes in July and won and its a easy big of coin, 100 vs 300 not bad. No shame, do it if it adds up. why not.... GD should fix it if its a real problem. but its pretty clear whats happening and denying it just makes it even more sus IMO. If u truly did not care, you would not have responded, the fact you did is showing your irked or did not like getting called out even if you whee not named dropped. @seth, The colours on these plants where from my not feeding them 100% correctly. Sometimes my plants get a nice purple red hue to the leaves and this is caused by colder temps at night and the chlorophyll degrading in the leaves. natural process of end of life in cannabis plants. also called "senescence"

@BudBeezy, there has been issues brought up about that in the past. what constitutes as stealing a meme. To me memes are open market and anyone can use anything as most of the contest of them are from other things that where not souly created by the person but the idea of the punch line might have been. If they steal an image that was made specifically for this contest then that's stealing but whose going to enforce it? Once its uploaded its fair game. Their are no rules stating we can not copy 1:1 everyone of the memes they spammed and also upload them as your own. lol one way to piss them off and maybe get picked lol Myself I aim to use images I screenshot from shows I watch and make something up, other times I will use a meme generator and try and think of a new punch line. Spamming the contest is something GD need to tackle. should be max 3 per person IMO. but whose to say they won't create a bunch of fake accounts to upload more, cash price creates a bunch of fucking weirdos. I am mostly happy its no longer fast buds picking the winners as I found their was bias there. but it worked mostly fine on their end. You can always reverence image search a meme to see where it might have came from. end of day they almost all recycled from somewhere else, Its like a garbage dump of sorts. one mans trash is another's meme.

@All_our_small_plants, That is exactly the problem. Imagine everyone is now looking for 50 memes on the Internet that everyone has already seen somewhere. That just makes the contest pointless. That's not fair to the people who make the extra effort to create their own memes. I hope @Growdiaries solves the problem, otherwise people will lose interest in taking part. By the way, what does "we" mean? Are you two working together?

@m0use, obviously we are not flawless, but we try to improve on each issue you guys are raising. We will check the algo once again and will fix it if needed. Regarding the selection process - we are also working on improving it. I think it's fair to say that the diaries that win should be informative for beginner growers and for the folks that come to the platform to learn something new. Therefore - the detailed weekly information about the nutriens, lights, watering etc., smoke report and fair amount of content uploaded all come into play. Again, we are not ideal here but based on what we read in the comments - we got better at selecting the winners lately.
