@DogDoctorOfficial, Can't find the reply.. but this is fine.
yeah, i'm sure some do it willfully, but i was trying not to be too negative about it. Like you said it is simple. You sponsor a contest. you pick some winners. you send the stuff out. It shouldn't take a long time or be complicated. It's a simple task and not asking for anything other than what they offered. Also why i don't mind pushing the process along if nothing occured for month or more. It's well beyond any genuine cause for delay.
@DogDoctorOfficial, A few months? Might want to send the official rep a DM. That's not impatient at that stage. I figure 1 month after finalization of contest is a good time to check in. It's just laziness at that point. It's grunt work and someone is procrastinating, lol.
@00110001001001111O, lol I see myself more like a bond villain but without giving away my plot for world domination before disposing of the secret agents.
@ATLien415, Bwaha you are really good as spazzing out about tangetial and insignificant things. Top percentile, "dude." You deserve a star on the fridge.
This guy spazzed out about the use of the word, "freely," when talking about the gist of how sugars move about the plant toward areas of growth and why where the light hits is mostly irrelevant to resource allocation. Kinda the whole function of the phloem to move things where they are needed, bwahaha. Stalked me for weeks. Wrote a bunch of personal attacks on my profile. The argument for him is always personal and not actually about facts. ad hominens, strawman fallacles, to quo que fallacies.. it's endless.
just an entitled kid throwing a tantrum 24/7 about the smallest things.
@Ultraviolet, I had no new diaries ready hence why I put an old one in. Its not good enough to win, I just wanted to make the numbers higher for the competition. Thanks for the hate. Much appreciated.
@Ultraviolet, it's a marketing site, so GD will definitely not agree. superficial perception above all else being important. more diaries, more advertising = good.
it's a common strategy to let a diary 'simmer' for a year or two and pick up views and likes to aid in winning contests.. no idea if it works, but it is not unusual to see.
Also, whatever variables control if a diary has been entered into a contest that eliminates it from future contests periodically get reset - whether on purpose or when they do maintenance, again.. no idea, but it has happened quite a few times since 2020. You will see diaries that have won in the past re-entered at some point. I'm sure some diaries have won more than once too.
whatever floats their boat. it's not like the contest winnings are worth the effort 9 of 10 times. If it's fun for you, keep doing it. If not, ignore the contests.
one thing - diaries take 3-4 months to finish, so maybe a bit longer than 6 months would be needed to have enough of them in a contest? i'm sure there's some reasonable cutoff that could work but then you'll jst have people re-create the diaries with a newer date, lol.
@NSABND, If you reply to a "?link=" commen (in url, the highlighted comment at top when you follow links from notification), it disappears. current site bug for future reference.
When i was younger i worked in a store that had a "charity bin" - it was used for parts and profit. The donations never went to the stated charity. They also ran a contest once where you'd drop off your business card and a "random" drawing. It was not random. They pick the winners based on best leads (opportunity to sell them something). Beware small business owners.. .they are more crooked than corporations in terms of frequency but much smaller magnitude of effect, obviously.
This is how it works quite often. Sure there are exceptions. This isn't abut GD, specifically. This is about not being naive. A large chunk of people can rationalize all sorts of behaviour for a dollar. The world is a pyramid scheme, lol.
like asnoriu said, could just give them an account number. while the cat is out of the bag this time, don't need to mention it isn't 'your' account in future. I'd want some sort of verification. Maybe, contact the charity and let them know it's coming and ask for some sort of receipt or email you when it does get donated.
@ATLien415,
"can win once in 3 months" - That means you can win once per 3 months and really isn't a debate.
If they changed it in march '25 that would be considered "recently." You aren't reading and or misrepresenting what i said so you could form yet another useless argument. Alhough, if they didn't apply the rule correctly for 6 years, at some point the lack of fixing it is a form of acceptance.
For six years it was always 3 months off after placing in this contest (ignoring gd errors). Whether the rule was mistated or they didn't enforce it properly is irrelevant to that fact. There's no point in arguing with someone with no integrity in what they say. You are happy to engage in fallacious reasoning and make things up that fit your emotionally-driven narrative and serve your personal vendettas.
Just looked through March gotm comments. I don't see any official comment from GD about this rule or its enforcement. All I see is you misinterpreting "can win once in 3 months," again. Bwaha.
The other trash you spewed doesn't merit a response. For someone who claims as much education as you say you have, you sure do talk like a teenager.
@ATLien415, so, it's 'static' but it is 'rolling?" Rabble rabble rabble! I'm going to throw a hissy fit for 2 weeks arguing over nothing.
LOL, that's a joke because being that anal-retentive is hilariously useless.
