Ozon Generator as desinfect

Dose anyone of you ever used an Ozon Generator to disinfect their tent ? KI says it‘s a great way & it‘s used in Food industry all the time etc. Just let it run for 15-30 min & there you go… Maybe the easy way to clean up the tent.

you don't want to be in the same room this is happening in. Ozone is not friendly to humans. Other options exists but if this is easiest for you just be smart and safe about it.

More complicated than I gave it credit for. Anytime you play with oxygen in enosed spaces you run risk of increasing oxygen content of from 21% to 23%, doesn't seem much but at 23% a slight spark has potential to ignite the space. Without going on a major ramble it helps alot to understand the different wavelengths of UV and how different wavelengths create different forms of oxygen. 0 - singlet, super reactive, picoseconds lifespan. Almost instantly makes O2. Will form O3 if there is enough. O2 - stable hard to break O3 - ozone Uv below 254nm will obliterate O2 into lots of O Uv between 254 and 300nm (280nm) will break apart O3 into O2. But does not have the energy to break apart O2 This process is why 254 nm germicidal lamps are often referred to as "ozone-free" because while some 185 nm light might be a byproduct, the 254 nm emission actively destroys any trace ozone produced. Uv generators generally use electricity to create much higher levels just make sure not to use it with uv active or use it.in a enclosed space if you are not actively monitoring oxygen levels. Ozone generators in a confined space is potentially hazardous and is strongly discouraged. For ozone to be effective at killing biological pollutants like mold, bacteria, or viruses it must be present at concentrations 5-10 times higher than public health standards allow for human exposure. UV light can be used for disinfection without generating ozone, which is considered a safer method because exposure to high concentrations of ozone is a health hazard. Good luck. Be safe g. 🙏

Let what run for how long? An ozone generator isn't a static thing, until you name a device. Most are gonna be plate driven devices (which then breaks down into surface area of the plate and power drawn) although in theory vaporized mercury lamps also create ozone. Ozone use in industry? Think NFL teams during covid with automated sterilization of their locker rooms at night. Think duct cleaning services for laboratories or high-risk healthcare settings. Not all UV use is going to be ozone use, ozone is a distinct layer of applying UV, where in the bubble of ozone gas UV light is superreflective, whereas this is not the case outside of the bubble. So, folks use ozone bubbles saturated with UV photons to "push" the bubble through space and apply UV through said space. For example, imagine you have a UV bubl....but you need to sterilize the ducting 100 yards from an entry point.....that bulb is not going to get UV photons to that point due to inverse square laws and such (unless you have the photons in ozone or walk the bulb 100 yards through ducting). Outside of cleaning ducting I cant think of anywhere in my rooms I would be purposefully applying ozone. When I was younger I had a scent mixer with a two stage system and an ozone mixer inbetween. Even that was like 5 seconds on, 1 minute off, with constant mixing and a pre and post fan to guarantee your pressure spec to keep the ozone flowing one way... Ozone is mostly going to be for shoring up weaknesses with UV sanitation. So things like spotting, shadowing, dimensionality, and so forth. UV light is known to damage DNA, in a near perfect collision due to photon size at this wavelength. So, take caution accordingly. Some real ultimate-level clowns on this site in the past have told folks to put these devices in their residential hallways (cancer in 15 years, bet every snip and bean i have on that one). Is it safer than using chemicals? Possibly. Like Yan, I have solutions for cleaning my tent. Even if I were to use ozone, it would be because some nasty stuff happened in that tent and would follow a manual cleaning anyway. Ozone flushing a tent would be like right next to 'ah throw that canvas away and grab a new one' in plans for me

Yeah ozone works, but it’s kinda overkill unless the tent’s completely empty. It’ll kill spores and bacteria , but it also eats up zippers, filters and rubber seals if you push it too long. If you do go ozone, 15–20 minutes max, fans off, then vent it out well before going back in. I personally just use chlorine and ethanol alcohol, much safer and still kills everything including PM spores. ✌️ Never used it myself so the first part I got from ChatGpt
