How to keep up with the times, RnD takes forever, how to pick the next big thing. Search it out old fashioned, bring home untested clones ? Pay the big bucks for snips. Do people get immune to strains? Or are they bored?

I think the question as framed is how consumers think, but that it is not reflective of anything in reality.... Tissue cultures of the god-tier unicorns coming direct from the original banks, with guaranteed viroid free sieving and testing and the capacity to snag one clone or a 10,000 pack of clones on a 2 week time frame......and having 1,000s of the literal god tier unicorns, from the last 5 years, all rotating and clean and yeah. That experience my guy, is like thirty five usd a cut........ That is like doja/cookies/cannarado/compound/backpackboys/blockheads/sub/tiki/thug/and on and on type zaza giga exotic.... the type that redefines the entire commercial market.... I know the social media guys try to say they have special whatever whatever, but charging hundreds for cuts is just a scam. Always has been. Now compare that to buying boof-mclarf-trash nobody F1 seeds for a hundred for a six pack of herms. Who is really spending 'big bucks' 👏

If you enjoy that chase, sure... i would argue that the 'next big thing' is just the whims of the peanut gallery. everyone values things a little differently. chase what you value and that will likely evolve over time. My whole goal is enough homebrew seeds with enough variety in flavor that i don't need to buy more... Just occasionally to avoid over-inbreeding etc. So far, only produced one batch of seeds I want to plant often. The last thing i'm worried about is popularity or what's trending... with the understanding there is some weak, positive correlations, but it just doesn't push the needle on its own. I'm not a hipster that thinks popularity automatically equates to mediocre, but ... it often doesn't mean much, too.

open ended questions on personal opinion are not going to go well on here. to many cooks. Better question is why do you care? leave that kinda crap up to the top dogs, we are hobbyist growers. just pick an idea and go with it. plan it out. Yes you can get bored with a strain, then switch it up and come back to it later. Like a box of ceral can get tired of the flavor or just never go back to it.

I'm from the old school (like you?), I'm still searching for that smell that hung in the coffee shops of Amsterdam and Maastricht in my youth... I've actually started growing some good old White Widow, I hope its genetics have remained “pure” 👌

Its probably about personal preference I realy like lots of the oldschool stuff and realy miss the classic skunk/catpiss or basic classic weed smell its like its getting more and more lost but those days, it seems people just crossing everything with everything in hope for the next hype, instead of creating stable strains

Welcome to the exciting world of cannabis innovation 2.0 🚀🌿. we don't just sell plants, we sell experiences, vibes, and Instagram stories 😎 So, how do you choose the next “innovation”? Easy: - The classic mystery clone: you bring home a cutting, you don't know what you're going to get... suspense guaranteed. Early adopters love surprises. - Ultra-premium culture: yes, you pay a lot, but you can brag about having “the rarest strain on the market.” Your wallet cries, but your ego dances. - The marketing revolution: new labels, cool names like “Nebula Galactic Haze 3000,” futuristic packaging... people are mainly buying the storytelling. And consumers? Spoiler alert: they don't become immune... they become jaded. Like when you spend three hours on Netflix and think to yourself, “Déjà vu? No, just jaded.” So real R&D is the wow effect that makes you say, ”Damn, I've never smelled that before!" In short, welcome to the world where you can be a genius geneticist, a green tissue trader, or a THC hypebeast... and where trends change faster than the rotation of series on Netflix. 😉
