Do ppl grow more norms til they can be sexed & discard males or does it even out cost/time wise to fem only? For round figures - 100 plants so germ 110/120 fems to get the 100 . How many norms would som1 need in comparison to ultimately get 100 females? As a guide 2 compare. Tnx

Regular seeds will be 50/50 male to female ratio. You’ll need 200 reg seedlings to end up with approximately 100 female plants. There are several ways to determine a male. Let them grow out and show signs on their own (the best way), or force them to flower early (I personally would not do).

Different tools for different uses. Knives cut and forks stab, if you try to cut with a fork it seems useless or at least not the best way to get what you want. Regs are for breeding mostly, then you are looking for a good male and a good female to make more seeds and try to steer the genetics in the way you like. If you just want flower and don't want to be pulling males after vegging them for a while, then fems are the way to go and you'll be sure all the plants are female and going to give you flower. Male to Female is meant to be between 50/50, but that can change drastically if you only have a small amount of seeds. On a larger scale, you'll be closer to that average, but as mentioned, regs are not usually used for large scale grows. More for pheno hunting. Growing a lot of plants, you normally want fem and stabilised genetics to have more uniform flower.

50/50 rate. so plant double plus some for good measure. If you want 100 fem outs Reg seed, plant around 220 and hope. Or just grow fems and say fuck it. much better results and less time wasted.

The only people looking for 100 females are going to be snagging females as cuts or popping feminized seeds they know are done right. Nobody has time for that.

50% are male, so if it's half the cost, then overtime it will even out, yes. You can get lucky, bad or good, in short-term. If you need 100 plants, you'd want to plant a bit more than 200, i'd say. The larger the batch the closer you can get be to 'double', but with smaller batches you'll have greater volatility and need to plant more than double if a specific number is required. you can look up the math for this probability. it's an easy context. depending on how many you need, you can be X% confident you get that many or more females based on how many you germinate. obviously, you want to be high-90's confident or even 99%. i'm not doing that grunt work, lol. It's monkey-see; monkey do it-level of stuff.
