HI IDB. 👋
Spider mites during the flowering phase are unfortunately one of the most stubborn and stressful pests you can get on your cannabis plants.
They reproduce extremely fast and can cause massive damage within a few days, especially when buds are already forming.
The most important thing is early detection and consistent action.
Quarantine: Always isolate the affected plant immediately so the infestation doesn’t spread to the rest of your grow.
Physical removal: My tip with the vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth over the nozzle, it reduces the mite population without spraying anything on the buds. You can also carefully wipe leaves with a damp microfiber cloth to mechanically remove mites and webs.
Air circulation & climate: Spider mites love dry, warm conditions. Try to raise the humidity to 55–60% and keep good airflow. That makes life harder for them.
Neem oil & sprays: Neem oil or biological sprays (like potassium soap or essential oil mixtures) can help,
but during flowering they’re risky because residues on the buds affect taste and quality. Many growers only use them up to the early flowering stage.
Predatory mites: If possible, introduce beneficial insects (e.g. Phytoseiulus persimilis). They are very effective in controlling spider mites naturally, even during flowering.
Persistence: Unfortunately, spider mites tend to come back again and again. That’s why you need to repeat treatments every few days and monitor the plants closely.
My honest advice: If the infestation is very strong and in advanced bloom, it’s often nearly impossible to fully get rid of them. The best you can do is reduce the population so your buds can still ripen without being completely destroyed. Prevention for the next grow (clean grow tent, sterilize equipment, keep hygiene high) is almost more important than fighting them once they’re there.
I Hope it can help you!
