Smell, or strength of smell has zero effect on potency and is not a predictor of plants being potent. I have had plants with almost zero smell that made you trip and also plants that absolutely reeked that were so-so.

Stronger smelling plants are just that, stronger smelling. It mean it has a lot of terpenes that are volatile. When curing and drying it, will want it to be as cold as you can get it to preserve these. I find the aroma carries though into flower. Like others have stated, it does not correlate with cannabinoid concentration, aka THC,CBD,CBG,CBN or the others from my understanding and experience.. Internet googling says ave terp content in flower is 2% but can vary heavily on environment and genetics. I like the smelly ones especially if they are not just basic weed smells. the berry ones are great,

The old type Skunks (R.I.P.) were DIABOLICAL! You couldn't have a nugget double wrapped and bagged, and taped up in your bottom drawer for fear of stinking out the entire house. Growing them was also diabolical, you could look out your window, at any time and see robbers and their dogs floating in nose-first to your garden like methed out Pepe-le-pew's! Oh, how I miss that scruffy weed *longingly stares out window*
