I have a habit of doing 48 hours of darkness at the end of my grows... but like others have said, it's not because i've ever noticed any actual benefit. It's more just something i "like" to do that makes me "feel" good. It doesn't bother me if i don't do 48hrs of darkness and it's definitely not something i go around recommending to people. If it makes you happy and doesn't cause any harm, then go for it! I think for myself, it was something that my uncle used to do with his plants when i was growing up and helping in his garden and it always just sort of stuck with me and just felt like part of the process of finishing a grow.

Extended darkness is nonsense. Nothing you do in the last few hours of a plants life will magically make super buds after weeks/months of careful cultivation.

improbable it has any positive effect, and if it does it's so tiny it won't make a difference you can resolve. most elaborate "techniques" are a form of masturbation.

This is a huge nothing burger (scientifically speaking). opinions can be opinions, but when science has spoken so clearly, opinions have their own short table in the corner. If I took you from your entire olmypic athlete life of getting up at 8AM and going to bed at 8PM, then one day randomly I go...today you can't wake up until 4PM....that athlete is gonna still be awake at 8AM the next day. Just like us, plants have circadian schedules and cycles. You can't change a plant's photoperiod and get the impact the next day...it takes days (multiple) to adjust to the new cycle. The ONLY nuance here is your pfr conversion does indeed accumulate and trigger in a single night. Something you'd never be able to confirm without tissue analysis. Want a science fact for this? free salts follow a cyclical path from the root zone to the foliage and back. If you harvest accordingly into night, you can nominally reduce free salts in your plant tissue. The whole '2 days of darkness' or whatever is the same as jail-talk of cracking an egg on a seed or whatever, just folks sharing their experience and anecdotes without placing it into the context of 'hey, this is a plant and folks do science with plants so lets maybe check that out'

Make your own experience :) This time do it, and the next time, don't do it. And the third time, you may help someone ;) Happy Harvest

I have done this for the stress response but with no way to prove or to see that much a difference it isn't worth opening yourself up for criticism. Try take 1 plant out and into dark for last 48 while others are in light and Compare the difference. Own personal experiments are always better to work from than others advice.. it isn't always this case but this is whatbi would advise and return with results.. cheers. Happy havest...

A 48-hour dark period before harvest can promote resin and terpene production, as well as chlorophyll degradation, due to stress – but this is highly controversial from a scientific perspective. Without a dark period, the plant matures more naturally, which reduces the risk of mold growth, especially in high humidity. Since its benefits are unproven, I would avoid it.

Meh…everyone has their own techniques for growing. I try to do 36 hours light off but if I don’t it’s not a biggie.

5 buckets of ice, 1 galon of milk to each pot, stab stemp with nail. First give 48 hours of light, then 48 of dark. But if you are sane person, dont do any of that or other shit to girls.
