Please look at this autoflower. First time grower, and was wondering if I should cut off the secondary branches you can see in the picture. Also, does it look like it can be topped above the 4th node( apart from the first 2 leaves) How is the health of the plant by looks

Just train it -- bend and shape it with garden wire or similar. MAximize surface area to receive light and keep it simple otherwise. Remove stuff from the plant should only be done for good reasons. Since it is an autoflower, i'd stick to training over topping, but if you only cut off a couple nodes it's not a huge loss to yield. Probably can't notice a difference with the naked eye if done right. As you learn to grow, i'd keep it simple to start. Form a good baseline of simple growing methods so you can more easily recognize the multitude of nonsense bro-science magic out there that will often sound science-y but not have an iot of emprical evidence to support it. cocoforcannabis.com has excellent guides that will keep you from wasting time with magical nonsense. Form proper expectations and do things that interest you after that point. By that time you'll have a greater appreciation for the genetic variety that is possible and not attributable to 200usd fertilizer you can buy for 50usd anywhere else with a different brand slapped on it, lol. you'll see a lot of the over-sophsticated stuff out there is more about onanism. there is a strong urge to believe that what 'one' does is significant and impactful and that their outcomes are magically superior to others because they do useless things, lol. As long as you maintain a healthy plant, 90% of outcomes are about the genetics.. maybe 99%. We are responsible for far less than we give ourselves credit. What we do is better described as not getting in the way of the plant.

Also my first time with an auto. As a first timer I wouldn't top more than once. Also don't top at all once they start flowering. If you check my diaries you can see the two big "wedding cakes" were topped once, and only lightly defoliated at the bottom. They both started flowering on week 3, so I couldn't top more than once without risking stunting the plant. I've got another diary started with another two auto flowers of the exact same breed. I'm only going LST on the second batch to see if it makes a difference. That being said, it seems there's a number of people that recommend doing no training to auto flowers. I enjoy the challenge of LST but I think in my third batch I wont train them at all.

Depend what shape you are trying to get your plant to grow into. Right now the plant is growing like a 🌲 this is where the apex or crown is always the highest, no side stem will be equal or higher. This is controlled by a plant hormone called auxin. Most of the auxin is stored in the apex itself. This phenomenon is called apical dominance and once it's broken the plant will equalize all stems and no longer give the lions share of energy to the main stem. Once you top (depending how much auxin you chop with it) the apical dominance will break, now the plant will dedicate energy to lateral stems and if you give them a little time they will shoot up to the same level as the other stems. This is a good time to stretch and bend as each stem will seek out the higher ppfd and stretch to reach it. Top her heavy 1 time (take alot off 2+ internodes) she will level the canopy? Most of the time it takes 2 toppings to completely break apical dominance with topping alone. Orrrr you could just bend down whatever stem is getting the lions share, once the plant detects that there are other stems that have a higher light intensity she will begin to devote energy to whatever her best chances of survival are... (highest ppfd). She looks healthy yes.

I would not cut anything off any auto flower, nor would I top one unless you are trying to grow dwarf plants.
