It is possible. The "XL" type of autos do vege longer than typical autoflowers. If you do go with 12/12 and it shows a preflower 7-10 days later, and bud development shortly after that, you should stick on that schedule to be safe. No reason to cause a re-vege if it is a photoperiod, even if it may have been coincidental. Only 10+ hours of darkness would have an effect if it is a photoperiod. Some need more than 10 hours, so we go with 12 to cover all the genetic variety. Less than 10 hours of darkness will not cause flower phase. (common sense applied.. if an unusual photoperiod *can* flip with 9 hours and 52 mins of darkness, no reason to be stickler about it.) I use 16/8 for vege all the time. DLI is what matters, not hours of light. Make sure you can retain the proper DLI with 12/12.

Too much sugar in soil can delay floral development along with excess or deficiency of nitrogen can also cause delays in floral transition. Probably not either but good to know.

Hey Growmie I have had this same issue before, If you're past week 5 or 6 and still not seeing any pistils or signs of flower, it's definitely possible she’s not an autoflower and might actually be a photoperiod. Autos usually start doing their thing around day 21–35, no matter the light cycle, so if you’re on 18/6 or 20/4 and she’s still vegging like crazy, she might be waiting on a 12/12 flip. Also, sometimes autos just “forget” they’re autos, genetics can glitch, and they need a little push to get into flower. Try switching to 12/12 for a few days and watch for pistils. If she starts blooming, the mystery is solved. Mine actually turned out to be that they “forget” they were autos, I switched the light cycle, and that fixed everything!

You may not see flowers on autos till week seven when the breeders say its week five so its pretty normal.

It could very well be that they’re autoflowers that just need more time. There are certain phenotypes that take significantly longer than typical autos – sometimes they’ll go 50 or even 60 days before they even start showing the first signs of flowering. Luckily, I’ve always had plants that began flowering by day 30 at the latest. But yes, it’s definitely possible that you’ve got a pheno that just takes a bit longer to develop.
