An inch won't make too much of a difference. Since you haven't transplanted, could just dig the hole a little less deep and fill in around it.
as long as crates don't block light, it shouldn't be a problem.

High alkalinity of water, is it a problem when growing?Is high alkalinity (cca 240 mg/l) a problem if the ppm is normal (cca 250mg/l)? I know that high alkalinity makes for high pH, but does it do anything else, like will it hurt my plant?

Could this be from cat piss? i have eliminated ph lockout and also (i think) cation exchange issues with 2 25% feedings (50% being normal), both with MORE than 100% calmag epsom salts. is 5 ml/gal calmagic toxic both with and without epson salts. my ph is perfect, double checked but symptoms persist.Week 8
