My 1 week old babies have long stems , I read online some call it "leggy seedlings". question: - is it ok to design a base / ground support by using/fitting an empty toilet paper roll and lightly packing with soil? i am not sure the technical terms, thanks

Just put more soil into the pots, from edge to edge. This will support the seedling and will not cause any problems. You can bury the stem right up to the cotyledons/first rounded "leafs". However, the question remains - why are they stretching/leggy in the first place? It is nearly always due to a lack of light intensity or not enough light hours. Cannabis needs at least 13-14 hours of light to grow properly outdoors, with a minimum of 6 hours of direct sun light hitting the leaves. You need to either move your plant where it gets more light or it will keep on being leggy. 2 seedlings in one pot is also no good, they need their own pots.

Repot them and bury them deeper. Roots will develop on the buried stem. Stretching (leggy seedlings) is caused by not having enough light intensity. You'll have to move your light closer next time to keep them from stretching too much.

not sure how to reply, many thanks hashy and InspireMe. of course, yes I am relying on natural light, I scored an awesome spot with close to 9 hours direct sunlight, and its from the sunrise so no shock , as if light came through building shadows during the day. I tried with this lite before and as well had leggy stems, over time tho the stem became like wood. I have a connection for no wax disposable wood chopsticks, great for support. as it is, my first grow did not flower but there was good thc in the curly leaf, I am going for bud development, maybe 1/4 dried flower from all this? really I dont want to spend money, I have heard so many stories from window flowers to closet s with full ventilation system. I would just feel so extra special if my first bud is as basics as possible. so the Qs about toilet paper rolls is my impression from some pic online which showed urban trees in cylinder base pots which looked like concrete molds. Then the pair in one pot, yes I got a new pot today, the one I germinated and it didnt sprout after 24 hours in soil so I thought might as well plant a next seed, Im allowed 4. wouldnt you know it the second one travels three inches and they sprouted together 24 hours later. I wish they would not compete, I could have almost twisted them, still a bit young I want the leaf to grow a bit before I transplant. I am going with a 7L pot thats by Rhizopot, description say the fabric support root growth, - do you think they both survive in that condition? from what I know my soil has no animal products, maybe the two will make peace??? or just transplant one and call it a day with three, sorry i write too much... if they both survive in a rhizopot 7L I can start a new one and have a full 4? or i can get new pots. one guy on twitter grew a seed to bud stage in one of those red party cups, can that be true?

Iv looked at your diary and you don't mention what light your using. If you don't have the correct lighting or the light is to far away you tend to get leggy seedlings. Look into your light recommendations for height. Also it looks like you have 2 seedlings in 1 pot. If so separate them so they are not fighting for space in the root zone.

Hi mate, if it's the two in the same pot I'd recommend repotting in individual pots and burying the excess stem. It will create roots from the buried part of the stem. 2 plants in one pot is going to cause you issues. Youd be better off with just one. But the stretch is caused by lack of light, you need to give them more light. Hope this helps 🙂
