Supplementary Lighting Outdoors (12-1 light cycle or extended daylight)

Has anyone tried a gas lantern technique or Night Interruption on plants outside? I don't get enough sunlight so I am setting up lights outdoor. Can they be too bright (24watt CFL) for the supplementary lighting. Should I extend the daylight hours, or have it come on at 12am?

I see. Would be ok either way but I would have it come on when it's the coldest cycle to provide a little heat as well. Cheers

TO CLARIFY: I don't think my question was clear enough. There's not enough daylight where I live, so every year my plants flower early, this year I have put a light outside to come on when its dark. I read up about people putting it on for 1-2 hr at midnight, which interrupts the photoperiod. The other option is to have it come on around 3am

gmslave - I only plan on having the lights on when it's not sunny, either 11-1am or 3-6am. So they stay in veg and do not flower early

Your plants outdoors in the shade still get way more light than you could ever provide indoors. So running a light outside in the daytime would be useless in my own opinion. My girls outdoor got about 5 hours of sun in a day. They did pretty well. Cheers
