@doggiedeb, There are a couple of ways to sprout them. This way you can actually see that the have sprouted. I use a clean shot glass with distilled or purified water just drop the seeds in they will float on the waters surface.If you have good quality unchlorinated tap water you should be fine also. Dont push them down. Put this in a warm 75F dark cabinet. The seeds should split open in 24 to 48 hours and a small root tip or tail will emerge. If it's cold it could hinder them from sprouting. Some growers just leave them floating until the tail is about a half inch long. Others will do the paper towel technique. Or a combination of both. Transfering them to the damp paper towel after they intitially show a small tail.These two ways work well you can try both and see which works best for you. Use a pencil to make a small hole deep enough for the root tail and just barely cover the seed shell with 1/4 inch of soil or soiless mix. Then lightly water the seed in but not to the point it sinks down too deep into the soil. Try to maintain a high humidity level of 65 to 70% until the root system grows larger. Set your lights high enough that they wont stress your seedlings. If you store your seeds in the refrigerator take them out to warm up a few days before you try to sprout them. Lastly be sure to buy the fresh seeds possible from reputable breeders. Old seeds can be stubborn.

@doggiedeb, I’m also on disability and limited. Honestly that’s why I do hydroponics, I don’t have to carry anything just pump it out to the garden.
