Northern_Ent Cool weather this week and plants are still inside every night. Plants are on the warming table with clear plastic covers during the day in The large 7 gallon grow bags. That might be too big a volume of soil try to keep warm but the plants seem okay.

Northern_Ent Had a pretty lean soil mix with richer soil at depth but the plant is growing fast and seems calmag deficient. Hmmm, these grow fast enough that the soil should be richer to prevent deficiencies. Soil design should have included dolomite lime to provide calmag. May 18 fimmed using bud trimming shears.

Northern_Ent June 9: plant is looking good. Gave it a kelp-calcium foliar spray that my plants all seem to like.

Northern_Ent June 18: plant seems to be doing great. Tying it to the cage seems to have worked nicely. Rain lately so no watering or nutrients added. June 20: foliar spray fertilizer mix with leftovers watered onto soil. Small amount of defoliation to open up lower area.

Northern_Ent June 24: bloom nutes and a light trim. Pollinated side colas today using Triple XL feminized pollen. First try at this so hopefully I did it right. June 26: Plants were dry. Watered with nutrient mix and also gave a foliar spray. June 27: tried pollinating again.

Northern_Ent July 2: looking good after several days of rain. Lots of buds but they’re not as thick as on the Triple XL. Pollinated again with Triple XL pollen. July 4: foliar spray using Enhancer plus a calcium citrate pill and some Epsom salts plus a dab of dish soap as a wetting agent. Sprayed upper side of leaves but not the buds. Plants seem to love this foliar spray.

Northern_Ent July 10: took off some fan leaves that were starting to discolour. Buds are finally starting to fatten up I think. July 12: some progress visible but seems to be a bit slow to ripen. Likely slow due to cool overnight temps. Took a side cola with 7 g of wet buds....couldn’t resist 🤠

Northern_Ent July 16: Looking quite nice and smells great. Still being slow to actually ripen but it’s getting there. Some leaves starting to discolour that I’ve been taking off. July 19: buds are ripening but not done yet. The plant has always been yellowish but this discolouration seems to be senescence so the plant is nearing the end of its life. Will harvest soon but not just yet as the buds are still putting on weight. July 21: still ripening and the smell is amazing 😳. Love it. Harvested a 25 g wet bud limb for, you know, quality assurance. Was going to just be using water but the buds aren’t ripening quickly so I’ve given it another round of molasses which is good for potassium (K) which should help flowering without giving a chemical taste to the buds.

Northern_Ent July 24 Day 101: the plant is ready. Harvested the main cola (to fit the plant in the car) and accidentally broke a side stem so I took that too. Rest of plant will be chopped in the dark in the morning.

Happy Harvest Day!

Great smell and taste that I find hard to describe...chemically but pleasantly sweet. The taste is apparently a classic Chemdog which is described as spicy with diesel and lemony skunk flavours. This was a good plant and I like the final product. 😎 Nice hybrid effect that starts with a strong head buzz and then slowly melts into a good body stone. Recommended.

Northern_Ent Nice resinous sativa type plant. It was always a bit yellow but that didn’t seem to be due to a deficiency. Smell is absolutely fantastic. I hate artificial flavours and chemical smells normally but this sweet chemical smell is wonderful. The plant took about 100 days outdoors and seemed slow to ripen presumably due to cool overnight temperatures. 100 days seems pretty typical for outdoor autoflowers. Like most autoflowers it was easy to grow and did well outside. Not a huge yielder but pretty decent. The breeder says outdoor height up to 85 cm and this one was 89 cm. The breeder also lists indoor yield as being up to 50 g per plant, so getting 68 g outdoor is about 40% higher. It’s been really hot the last few days (30C) and the buds got a bit crispier than I wanted during drying. I probably lost some terpenes being volatilized off due to the heat. I can control the humidity in the garage but not the temperature. Oh well. Curing jars are now in the cool house basement.

Auto Chemdog is looking sooo fine, lemme have that!

Northern_Entcommented4y ago
@DoDrugs420, this was a fave from last year. I’ve since figured out the well water here has too much sodium which is why she was always so yellow. Knowing that, I’d change water and feed to provide more K and P during flower…in other words, I think this could be done better. It was a nice smoke as it was though.

What's the reason for it not fattening up? its been In flower for ages that's strange
Northern_Ent
Northern_Entcommented5y ago
@Hshbdndkjd, likely cool temps (10 C) overnight here. My outdoor grows always take way longer than breeders claim. This plant has been in bloom for six weeks now and will be close to done in two more...so, yeah 8 weeks might seem long for this plant but it seems normal here.
the end.
