BeanswithPork Okie Dokie Smokey, starting a new one for another generation of Fastbuds. This is a regular clone of FFT5, a fast flowering photoperiod tester. I started the first five fast flowers and ran into various troubles including environment and just user error. FFT5 was one of the first to recover and thus one of the first to clone. I did not have much success with FFT5. I went with a single topping and sea of green, or early flowering, and maybe not tip top shape, and it produced uber small bud. Not overpowering vigorous if left with a noob. What I can say is FFT5 is projected at about 42 days flowering and I am harvesting this clone’s mother at 7 weeks. I transplanted into a container of BX Pro Mix and side filled with a mix of 10 parts BX Pro Mix: 5 parts worm castings: 1 part Fox Farms Happy Frog soil. My tent is 4’ x 4’ hung mylar DIY with a 300 actual watt full spectrum LED and a smaller pod which is 1/6th that. This is day 46 for the duo. Not sure yet if I will do sea of green, monsters, or something else entirely .... outdoors even?

BeanswithPork Day 53 since cloning the duo of FFT5s. It will be just water for a bit so nothing major to report. Just slowly chugging along and getting established. Everything looks good so far.

BeanswithPork Day 60 for these FFT5 clones. Because I could tell they were going to stretch so quickly and not fill pots effectively, and having a shortage of small pots, I decided to double up. Time to get cozy! Great symmetry with the pair. Once they shoot up I’ll flower them knowing the container will fill more quickly. I bottom filled with BX Pro Mix and then side filled with a mixture of 40 parts BX Pro Mix: 5 Fox Farms Happy Frog: 5 worm castings: 1 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 1 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 1 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Blood and Bonemeal pellets: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 alfalfa meal compost: 1 pulverized egg shells.

BeanswithPork Day 67 since these two FFT5s were cloned. I treated a nearby clone for pests and so I treated this one too. I was not 100% confident all the leaf damage was from prior. I’ve learned being proactive is sometimes not a bad idea. I spray them with moonshine, ethyl group alcohol distilled over 90%. It discourages or kills everything and evaporates faster than water at room temperature. I don’t see too much damage, if any. Training looks to be working effectively as more and more sprouts gain size.

BeanswithPork Day 74 for these two FFT5 clones sharing a bed. After spraying last week, I haven’t bothered clipping anything off so damage remains. I need to do some housekeeping across the board this week so I will clean things up and maybe even clone. I’m just giving water as there is plenty of soil amendment.

BeanswithPork Day 82 for these two FFT5 clones. I clones this week and cleaned things up including proactive with pest control. Still only giving water as there is soil amendment. Still lots of time to go so hang in there.

BeanswithPork Day 89 for these two FFT5 clones. I let them get really dried out (no kidding!), as you can see major droop. No matter. I watered immediately after photos. It sort of is a LST nightmare. I will look to clone again then will eventually flower.

BeanswithPork Day 96 for these two FFT5 clones (from Fastbuds). Some developments have arisen this week, turns out I have a new flower light and so I have thrown this one into flower. I had room and needed to make room in veg. Two plants, so I assume there are lots of roots. I took some clones before transitioning. Before all of this, I got up this morning and it was dried out droopy. I irrigated, bounced back. I actually fed 24-8-16 All Purpose Miracle Grow plant food with some Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag), to remedy the creeping purple stems and preparing for that flower burst. Hope its fine. I want to take time to give shout out to two great Canadian boys BudXs and Hellishjam. These two are good supporters and deserve love or at minimum likes. Get over and glance at their diaries.

BeanswithPork Day 103 for these two FFT5 clones which are sharing a small pot. One week of flowering complete. Fastbuds lists FFT5 as around 6 weeks, my previous experience was seven weeks which is what I will work with. So six weeks of flowering remaining. This is a 600 watt Vivosun HPS setup. Still adjusting to the benefits and drawbacks compared to LED, for example taking photos. I have experimented with plastic filters and have been shown some cheap products, for now just taking pictures with my phone with “dramatic” effect seems to be the best combination of colour and resolution for now. I’m not lugging them in and out based on the location of my tents. I will also shout-out to Hellishjam and BudXs 🤙🏻🇨🇦 who are constantly supportive and encouraging. Stretching away, although not as much as FFT3 which went in at the same time. Looking good though! Just giving water as needed.

BeanswithPork Day 110 for these two FFT5 clones sharing a container. Two weeks of flowering complete, about five weeks remaining. I have only given water, time for food. In fact, I’m running out of time to apply fertilizer. The buds come quick with this strain. Not nearly as much stretch as FFT3 side by side.

BeanswithPork Day 117 for these two FFT5 clones ( hard to see it is two). Three weeks of flowering complete, about four weeks to go. I expect to hit it with a major feeding in the next couple of days. I fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with a dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag) early in the week, and water since. Loving the pistils on these plants, tall and white. There are mites getting comfortable within the brush of plants, wait until their new neighbors move in this week - ladybugs. Should be ruckus.

BeanswithPork Day 124 for the two FFT5, four weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. Getting brutalized by mites. They are persistent and never stop, even as ladybugs move in. They only arrived mid week so it will take some time, thats the hard part. I am allowing them to go to town, lay some ladybug eggs too! I fed mid week, trying out some 0-50-30 Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz, with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). I can see its strong, the leaves are praying, and would look to go easy on it or dilute it.

BeanswithPork Day 131 for the FFT5. Five weeks of flowering complete, two weeks to go. The pest wave hasn’t improved much. Overall, the FFT5 were getting the mites later and so the progression is delayed. Other parts of my tent improved and I moved some plants outside. The ladies have been munching away but the cat and mouse of populations leaves this in pretty bad shape still. I am really copping out with photos this week, just one general shot and mostly copy and paste description. Sorry not sorry. Midweek, i expect to move the FFT5 outside to get picked apart for at least a week or two. I did give some 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom (and blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag)), but it will be water here on out. The food is likely a waste just given the plant condition.

BeanswithPork Day 138 for the FFT5 clones. Six weeks of flowering, one week to go. I have moved the mite plant outside. Rains and predators have taken the toll. This one looks interesting in terms of the colour of the damage. The plan would be a major wash in a week which I will outline on other grows. Looks like some bud will be save-able though I anticipate flavour being scrubbed away.

BeanswithPork Day 144 for the two FFT5s. Seven weeks of flowering complete, this is my projected finish. What a damaged, formally mited, mess. I’ll get ready to wash and harvest the crowns and largest buds. Zero expectations and willing to compost anything not vapable and much of the plant.

These are FFT5, the fifth in the fast flowering FastBuds photoperiod line. These were taken as regular clones. This is one of my grows that was greatly kiboshed by spider mites so the score and review is heavily determined by events. FFT5 was cloned and sprouting quick and slender. I wasn’t over the moon about the taste the first time through so I decided to have some fun and put two clones into one container. My experience is that strains of the same genetics don’t seem to struggle as the timing is identical. I find FFT5 just powers through the flowering stage, truly fast flowering. As stated, the mite wave eventually washed over the FFT5s, and they went to town on the leaf material I had done well to preserve. First, I dropped ladybugs in to reduce the bulk population. I left the FFT5s outside in the Canadian summer climate for a bit to get picked cleaned and rained on. In the end, the mites were driven off leaving a stringy mess. I implemented a vigorous budwash which helped keep the product consumable. The bud quality was certainly reduced with the later mite infested plants, less density gained, so more airy and with orange hairs easily falling off. The effects have been consistent since the first go, very indica, and I find it does get to me. If anything, its reliable medication. Like the rest of the mite weed, trichomes are minimal, as the buds had poor conditions and then were scrubbed. Taste is bland, sort of herby or just general non taste of salvaged bud. That said, I got a good cure which is rare for me, so the final buds were much more full of flavour which was increasing over time. Many on here would be more than willing to wait for flavour, so it may just be one that takes a bit to come in. I was getting a variety of herb tastes and smells, which is what I expected, but I was for sure sensing some deep after tones of sour or sweet. I don’t want to describe this too much because it would be inaccurate. My point is that I for sure saw a step up in flavour compared to their mother. Overall, the mites really hindered the experience. A fast flowering plant crossed with ruderalis is not going to be able to take a substantial war, and so the results are expected. FFT5 did clearly outperform another tester in every category that also went through the Spider Mite Trials. I’m hearing alot of rumblings of love for FFT5. Thats fine, it won’t blow you away with smell or flavour. The effects are very nice. I’m not sure I can rank this tester ahead of any of its other FastBuds sister strains.

BeanswithPork I think that pretty much sums it up. I detailed the methods of reducing the mites. When I got to the end I added a step in my usual bud wash process to make sure I got all the silky web and mites off. Container 1: 20 Liters of water, 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, 3 tablespoons of baking soda. I left all the buds, fan leaves included, in the bucket after agitating while I wet trimmed. As each bud was trimmed it moved to step 2. Container 2: swish in a container of 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, 3 tablespoons of baking soda and water. Container 3: rinse in water. Then I hang to dry as usual. The biggest buds sat in the big bucket longest as I trimmed the harvest.

"I’m hearing alot of rumblings of love for FFT5. Thats fine, it won’t blow you away with smell or flavour. " This is one of the many reasons I use this site. So easy to give a 10 star review when there are literally 10 stars to choose from.
