emeraldlabs First grow in 15 years! These girls popped in under 20 hours of germination. Started in a mix of happy frog and pertlite. Will switch to an ocean forest, happy frog, pertlite mix upon transplanting. Plan to top and do LST. Sprouted January 25, picture taken 1 week later on February 1.

emeraldlabs Day 8 to 15 has been great and, besides for transplanting, uneventful. Girls are growing nicely. One plant looked pretty unhappy before and after transplanting but quickly bounced back. Transplanted 2 into a mix of ~70% FFOF, ~15% FFHF, and ~15% vigoro pertlite (say no to MG!). Best looking plant went into a mix of ~90% FFOF and 10% pertlite. I’m a scientist, so while minor, I like to experiment. My TDS has been creeping up lately but still acceptable. Will need to look into changing out filters and membrane of RO system.

emeraldlabs Wow, they are growing! Began LST on day 26 and have been working them daily. We did run into our first speed bump. Noticed that some newer growth near the tops of the plants had white/yellow tips on leaves. Using a CMH, I was concerned my light was too close. I moved the light up quite a bit but continued seeing new growth with this problem. Realized it was likely minor nute burn from FFOF... wow it really is as HOT as I have heard... something to consider on future grows. I have left the light up higher though, as I read multiple accounts of people using CMHs near top of tent with no negative effects. To this point, I have seen no stretching or anything that would cause me to lower the light. I did do a light cal/mag feeding once this week but do not believe it has anything to do with the burn. Reading other grow diaries for this strain, and using RO water, I wanted to begin feeding at a low ppm. Maybe not the best idea considering, but we live and we learn. Photos/video are day 29 since breaking the soil.

emeraldlabs Did a lot of defoliation this week so while growth is still obvious, they are exploding. Getting the number of future colas up! Working on getting all the main ones level and outside of rings. Lowered light a little bit and increased cal/mag this week. I have a sunroom with ~200 succulents and buy ladybugs a few times a year to minimize any pests. Put a few in with the girls to keep them company. Photos/video are day 36 since breaking the soil. My little helper in last pic.

emeraldlabs Opposite of last week! Flipped on day 45... put up a blackout curtain and had to move the tent. Light would not fire up after... thankfully had a replacement ready to go! Started feeding LIGHTLY. Will increase every other watering. Photos/video are day 50 since breaking the soil. Hard worker in last pic! *EC is 0.5... website being dumb*

emeraldlabs Noticed some leaf discoloration on one plant this week. Assumed a deficiency of some sort. Now doing 1/2 strength fox farm trio with a tsp of calmag. Also been watering with a higher pH as runoff was noticeably low previous watering. Night humidity is a lil higher than I’d like but the airflow is great. All in all, everything seems good at the moment. Photos/video are day 64 since breaking the soil (except leaf deficiency pictures).

emeraldlabs Love the way these ladies are developing; the tent smells so good. Nothing to report this week. Spring weather is approaching in the midwest... tent gets a little warmer late afternoon. Will keep monitoring, but as it warms I will turn the AC on and should be good. Reducing veg nutes, increasing flower nutes. Pics/vid taken 71 days after breaking the soil.

emeraldlabs Nothing new. Typical spring weather in midwest; 80 one day, 35 the next. Keeps me active flipping between humidifier, dehumidifier, heat, and ac; fun! Have started to monitor trichromes. Plants seem as they will all finish at different times; basing that on orange hairs at the moment. Pics/vid taken 85/41F days after breaking the soil.

emeraldlabs We are getting closer! A few trichromes turning amber. Flushing until harvest. Have a few nanners popping up here and there; apparently not an issue this late in flower (and read male flowers this late are typically sterile?). Have plucked the ones I have seen. Raised the light just a bit to try and reduce any stress that could be causing herming, if it’s not the plants last ditch effort to reproduce. Pics/vid day 104/62F since breaking soil.

emeraldlabs Harvested at end of week 16! 59 colas between the 3 plants. Worked on keeping humidity down this week to stress the gals. Have given the buds a light trim before drying. Will finish once they are dry. Will post harvest update once cured and sampled.

emeraldlabs > 8 oz from 3 plants under 2 ft tall; overall a happy grower. These plants were easy to grow; hungry for cal mag tho! Started to see a few nanners pop up at end but that was likely my fault with conditions that stressed the plants. Have since moved tent to basement where environmental control has been ideal. Starting a perpetual grow!
