SajjuB I germinated the seeds using the towel paper method. A week into growth I dropped all three plants! Crack in 2 of the plants and they still managed to grow! I thought I'd lost them all. Phew. Luckily all three survived. I let them grow for another week till I transplanted them into 3-gallon smart pots. Ended up breaking quite a few roots while transplanting the Banana Kush and the MF still survived! I am watering with a liter of water to each plant every 4 days. The soil is a mixture of clay soil, perlite, and coconut coir. I have about a dozen worms in each pot and often feed the soil with mango peels and banana peels. The plants are often sitting in about 100 degree full sun for about a good 8-9 hours and they love it. Since the plants are outside there is an abundance of bug life roaming around.

Grow Questions

SajjuBstarted grow question 6y ago
I am thinking about cloning from each plant and need to know at what stage of growth can I start hacking away for clones. Where should I take the cutting from? How long should the cutting be? Also, once I have a suitable clone cut, how do I go about making sure it roots outside?

Hey I see this is an old question but wanted to share my cloning technique. If you want a simple almost foolproof cloning method check out the first couple weeks of my fire & water diary. It does work best with a small aquarium air pump but you don't have to have one. The trick to reliable cloning it to keep the clone cool about 75f and not too intense light. If you are doing it outside make sure you keep it in the shade. No fancy root compounds required.

You should wait about 9 weeks in for clones and you want to take something from the bottom

SajjuB Had heavy thunderstorms come in early and will last a few days so I had to bring the ladies inside to the grow tent. Intend on keeping lights running for 24 hours now for a few days until the rain subsides. Was going to water them but the rain got to them first and it seems like they loved the heavy rains and winds. I have no intention of using any chemical fertilizers because they are thriving naturally. In their 4th week of vegetation and I will transplant them into 15-gallon pots filled halfway, so I guess 7 gallons approx. I will give them another month of vegetative growth and then hopefully they will flower on their own as the daylight hours change. Uber excited since this is my first grow! I am light stressing my blackberry only. I was FIMing the bananas almost every two days and now they seem to be packed with new growth. It is almost scary because I can't even see the main stem due to growth. Also kind of worried about transplanting from the 3-gallon pots. Haven't really up-potted such a large plant before. Wish me luck and please provide any and all insight and comments!

SajjuB Back out into the sun. Will be up potting to a 15-gallon smart pot this week. Both the banana and the blackberry need some more soil to thrive. Added ILGM flowertime fertilizer when I watered this time. I want to grow everything to at least 4 ft. I have another month and half for vegetation. How big do you think I can get them?

SajjuB The ladies are finally in their last 15-gallon homes. They seem to be settling in well. Will have to figure out the new watering schedule. Will keep them on a heavy dry and wet cycle going till flowering starts. Need to know how much and where to prune now. After much deliberation, I have decided to top my plant. One of them and clone that growth, god willing.

Nice plants! At 100F how are they doing???

SajjuB commented6y ago
@MaryJaneUSA, Striving. The sun has been battering them for 3 weeks now and at times temps were slightly above a 100 with a real feel of about 112 at one day. Leaves curled up slightly and that's when I made sure to water them properly. Luckily night time temps drop about 15 to 20 degrees which I guess helps.

@SajjuB hi mate howd you go Did you end up taking some cuttings? Hope I was able to provide a solution To the grow question Happy Growing

SajjuB commented6y ago
@DILLIGAF, I didn't. Kinda nervous about taking my first cutting I guess ... and I'm waiting for something that's a little over 8 inches. Next week for sure. I'm gonna try 3 methods for cloning, only water, Jiffy pellets, and just plain soil. Pellets and soil I'll be using rooting hormones and a bit of honey. So yes, you provided solutions and a vast amount of knoweldge. Appreciate the help dude. Stay tuned!
