Germination
2mo ago
HandsomeTerpz The Vanilla Frosting from Humboldt is giving me a bit of trouble with germination, just like the other seeds. 🌱 Despite soaking them in water, trying the paper towel method, or planting directly into the substrate, the ladies are a little lazy when it comes to sprouting. Interestingly, the very first seedling developed three cotyledons instead of two – a rare and fascinating mutation! 🌿✨ The Vanilla Frosting got off to a really good start . At first, I was a bit nervous, so I germinated a second seed just in case. Conditions look spot on: 🌡️ 25 °C, 💧 75% humidity, 🌱 light, airy mix of 50% soil / 50% perlite 🚀 perfect for strong root development.

HandsomeTerpz Humboldt seeds can sometimes be a bit trickier when it comes to germination and the early phase, especially compared to Zamnesia. I can’t say for sure why maybe it’s the age of the seeds. But I promise you, the little bit of extra work at the start is absolutely worth it! I’m currently working on a solution and already have an idea spoiler: I think the issue comes from using small starter pots. Once the seedlings recover, you can expect a crazy terpene explosion later on. These plants smell insanely strong and unique in their adult phase! 🔥 Don’t just take my word for it check out the other grow diaries of this strain. California Love!

HandsomeTerpz Humboldt Vanilla Frosting I have to say, the genetics from Humboldt really tend to struggle a bit more in the beginning. They’re a little sensitive and delicate, but they push through well. One of the plants is drooping a bit at the moment, but that’s just from the transplant. It’ll get some water today along with a bit of Boom Boom Spray from Bio Tabs that should do the trick.

HandsomeTerpz Here again, it’s clear that Humboldt genetics can be a bit sluggish during germination and in the first weeks. But once they really take hold and start accepting the fertilizer, they take off and develop beautifully. The highlight is definitely the one plant with Whorled Phyllotaxy (triple node) – it’s looking really good, and I have the impression that this is simply part of its phenotype. If it continues to develop so well, it should produce some really nice buds, simply because there will be more of them.

HandsomeTerpz The Humboldt Vanilla Frosting is having a bit of a harder time compared to the Zamnesia plants. But that’s pretty normal they’re just a bit more complicated to grow, which is fine as long as you know it. The rebuild definitely did the plants good, and moving them into the new tent with the Autopots gave them another growth boost. What’s really cool is that one plant is forming three leaf pairs instead of the usual two. Training her is a bit more complicated, but it’s a lot of fun. Due to the rebuild and tent move, I didn’t take any pictures this week. 📦➡️🌿

HandsomeTerpz The Humboldt Vanilla Frosting has finally settled in just as I’m used to from Humboldt around week 5 and now she’s really taking off! 🚀🌿 She’s a bit smaller than the others, but otherwise she’s in no way behind them. I’ve already switched her to 12/12 as well, otherwise she would just get way too big. 💡✨

HandsomeTerpz The Vanilla Frosting is a bit more laid-back and tricky to grow at first 🌱😅 But she’s doing really well and that sweet, earthy, slightly tangy scent is just amazing 🍦🌿 The plant with the three nodes is funny it’s really pumping out a lot of leaf mass! 🍃😂
