Anna-J 💚Greetings Growers!💚
I'm happy to be starting my next diary here with you all!
I had a very hard time choosing which strain to go with for this grow. I considered running two or three different strains at once but i'm a creature of habit and it's my habit and preference to grow single strains at a time.
I knew i wanted to grow a 🌱Fast Buds🌱 strain, as they were kind enough to provide a variety of seeds through one of the contests here at Grow Diaries. Thank you, Fast Buds! 🌹
I was really leaning towards growing a photoperiod strain for this run but my overall shortlist had come down to:
🌸Strawberry Gorilla Auto
🌸Apple Strudel Auto
🌸Purple Lemonade Fast-Flowering (photo)
🌸Tropicana Cooking Fast-Flowering (photo)
...and I ended up going with 🍓🦍Strawberry Gorilla Auto🦍🍓.
The decision basically just came down to a blind choice... i spread the seed packs out on the table, closed my eyes, shuffled them around and picked one. 😊

Germination Day 1:
- Out of the pack of 5 seeds, 1 of them was quite a lot smaller than the rest. I chose the 3 seeds that i thought looked the best and soaked them for 12hrs in room temperature distilled water. I'm considering just growing 2 plants, in 7-gallon fabric pots in my 2x4 tent but i decided to pop 3 seeds in case something goes awry.
- After 12hrs, i transferred the seeds to a damp paper towel, placed into a plastic container and left the lid just sitting loosely on top.
I placed the container in my tent, on a heat mat set at 84F.
Germination Day 2:
- Wow, this caught me off guard! I checked the seeds today and all 3 had sprouted, where 1 of the 3 actually almost had it's cotyledon leaves coming out! This was a very fast germination time!
- I transferred each seed to a fabric pot, two 7 gallon pots and one 5 gallon pot. I'm hoping that the one seed that was almost fully popped from it's shell is going to have enough strength to grow up and out of the soil.
- I gently watered each pot with approximately 100ml of distilled water and used a plastic cup to act as a humidity dome.
Germination Day 3:
- by end of Day 3, all three plants have started peeking through the soil.
- I'm very impressed by how quickly these seeds have started. I'm curious whether that will be a sign of some vigorous growth to come?
- today will also be considered "Day 1" of my first week of veg.
Feel free to follow my diary to get the coming updates. 💚😚

Anna-J 🌸Week 1🌸
Germination went very smoothly last week and these little girls seemed eager to enter the world!
🌱SUBSTRATE:
- Pro Mix Organic Vegetable & Herb Mix (40%)
- Black Gold All-Purpose Potting Mix (40%)
- Canna Coco Professional Plus (10%)
- Nursery Land Perlite (10%)
I was intending to run three 7-gallon fabric pots but i seem to have misplaced one of them, so i ended up using one of my 5-gallon pots.
I like to keep my pots elevated on wire racks, mainly for air circulation.
🌱NUTRIENTS:
Remo Nutrients:
- Micro
- Grow
- VeloKelp
- Bloom
- Astroflower
- Nature's Candy
- MagNifiCal
🌱EQUIPMENT:
- Unit Farm grow tent, 2ft x 4ft x 6ft
- HLG Elite 360 light fixture, containing 2 x QB96 Elite LED boards. Modified to replace the bluetooth controller with a manual dimming knob
- Sunblaster 48" 6400K LED strip light (for veg only)
- 2 x Sunblaster 24" 2700K T5HO fluorescent strip lights (for flowering only)
- AC Infinity Cloudline T6 exhaust fan
- AC Infinity 6" Carbon Filter
- AC Infinity Cloudray S6 Circulation Fan
- Toshiba 8000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner
- Photone app
- Dr. Meter pH Meter
- HM Digital EC/TDS Meter
*************************************************
Day 1:
- All 3 seedlings have broken through the soil.
- Removed humidity domes
- Only the HLG Elite 360 light fixture is on, set to 20/4 light schedule and mounted 36" above the plants
- LUX: 4800
- AC Infinity Cloudline T6 exhast fan is set to turn on to it's lowest setting when the temperature reaches 82F or the humidity reaches 76%
- Temp: 74-78F
- RH: 70-75%
Day 2:
- Added yellow sticky traps to tent. No sign of fungus gnats but i've added the traps as a precaution
- Turned on the Sunblaster 48" 6400K LED light & reduced the intensity of the HLG Elite 360 fixture
- LUX (Sunblaster light only): 5110
- LUX (HLG Elite 360): 3700
- LUX (TOTAL COMBINED): 8810
- Temp: 74F-80F
- RH: 70-75%
- VPD: 0.35 - 0.4
Day 3:
- Turned on the AC Infinity Cloudray S6 circulation fan to 20%, mounted approximately 32" above plants
- Temp: 74F-80F
- RH: 70-75%
Day 4:
- watered each plant with a very small amount (approximately 100ml) of plain, dechlorinated tap water, pH adjusted to 6.35
- increased circulation fan intensity to 30%. The fan is high enough in the tent where the wind does not cause much movement of the seedlings but mainly just helps gently circulate the air a bit better. I'll be slowly increasing the intensity to help promote strong stem growth.
- Temp: 74-80F
- RH: 69-75%
Following and good luck! I have one of these in my seed collection and was thinking of adding it into my next 4 x 4 auto grow. Knowing what you've produced in the past here on GD, I think they'll turn out great!
@Aeromatics, Thanks! I'm really hoping that this turns out well for me! I do still have some older seeds that i probably should have chosen to grow first but part of the fun is growing 'current' strains that others are growing at the same time. It's fun to compare techniques and grow setups and to see how others are doing with a particular strain. I'd happily follow your next Strawberry Gorilla grow! 💚🌱
I'm super interested to see how these turn out. I had to use the same size and color of pots. The only difference is that mine got transferred to a greenhouse and are finishing really soon.
@leithsffs, Thanks! I really like your tent set up and would love if i had a greenhouse that i could use. I'm sure your plants are very happy in there! 😊
