AucoinGrow Lots of growth happening now. Ran into some over watering and PH issues with Sundae Driver. But I corrected quickly and they’re thriving.

AucoinGrow Starting to see some purple or maybe red stems. Not too concerned just yet though, as no other issues are showing. I’m watering sparsely as they need with distilled water, virtually zero ppm/ ph around 6-6.5. On two occasions I’ve tested watering with my tap water with ph adjusted to 6.5. It averages around 220ppm. No noticeable differences observed. I did top Purple Queen and Sundae Driver this week. I’ll likely be defoliating the Royal Queen crop once they look to be well recovered from the topping. Note that this is week 4 for the Royal Queen crop, and week 3 for Fast Bud’s OG Kush

AucoinGrow I decided against defoliating based on some convincing readings. I did top all plants except OG Kush and I’ll be letting each of them grow naturally. I did remove the first 2 inches or so of soil from each pot and replaced it with fresh soil/ nutrients. I did collect some run off after watering today and found that the ph of the run off was incredibly low. I imagine this is creating some nutrient uptake issues, so I’ll be adjusting my ph when watering closer to 6.5-7. I’ll adjust after further observations. We should also see OG Kush begin to pre flower in the next two weeks. As of now I plan to continue the same light schedule. But I may flip to 12/12 once OG is in flower. I’d like to achieve a sort of staggered harvest, as opposed to letting OG go all the way before flipping the lights for its photoperiod tentmates.

AucoinGrow First full week of 12/12. No signs of flower from the Royal Queen photoperiods yet. Fastbud’s OG Kush is looking great, lots of bud sights. Purple Queen #1 seemed to be a bit light stressed. I moved my light as high as it can go and that’s helped. Also had some subtle yellow spots on a few Royal Queen leaves. The plants look healthy otherwise so I trimmed those leaves and we’ll keep pushing. Now would be a good time to mention how easy Fastbud’s OG Kush has been. It’s had exactly the same treatment as the others in the tent but with zero of the issues Sundae Driver and Purple Queen have had.

AucoinGrow Went out of town for week 8 and left the care to a friend. Very happy to return to a nice healthy canopy full of growing buds. At 7 weeks, we’re hitting the home stretch for FastBuds’ OG Kush. She’s still been the healthiest of the bunch and I’m already looking forward to growing out more of their genetics. The two Royal Queen Seeds strains in the tent are also doing well. One of them, a Sundae Driver is producing trichomes much faster than her sisters. I still have not fed any added nutrients apart from amending the top layer of soil with more of the mix I’m using.

AucoinGrow So this week I decided I’d amend the soil again using the same method I did a few weeks back. In starting that process I discovered a few questionable growths that warranted my attention. One of the Sundae Drivers had turned herm. I do think I’ve caught this early enough to avoid any serious issues. I spent time carefully inspecting each node of each plant after removing all I could find on her. I’m now inspecting each day for any new male flowers. As an added precaution I trimmed just about everything under the trellis netting and some larger fan leaves to make inspecting for balls easier. This also is helping to keep humidity down. OG Kush is coming along nicely. The odor is still very faint. But if you lightly touch a bud you can smell an amazing terpe profile. Under microscope I’m observing about a 50/50 mix of clear to white, no amber yet. The Sundae Drivers despite being slightly younger than the Purple Queens are a bit ahead of their sisters. They have all started frosting up slightly while Purple Queen has not.

AucoinGrow Big improvement on all the Royal Queen Seeds plants this week. That same Sundae Driver that hermed has not shown any new male flower growth at all. In fact, the Sundae Driver buds are all looking a bit denser this week. Their smell is incredible. It smell is identical to a bowl of fruity pebbles when I was a kid. Also, check out the coloration on the leaves near the buds. As the plants grow closer to full maturity those purple edges should bleed deeper into the leaves. Purple Queen also exploded in her development this week. Still only minimal trichome development, but her buds have grown visibly larger. Her smell is less sweet, closer to the OG Kush but with a little citrus. I’m certain the Royal Queen crop’s development this week must be due to last week’s maintenance. I trimmed all the growth beneath the trellis and, on the Sundae Driver, I removed entire branches that had male flower growth. Later in the week a few hours after watering you could really see that the plants were focusing all their growth up top at the bud sights. And last but not least, FastBuds’ OG Kush is continuing to fatten up her nugs. Some resin was observed this week, along with a few amber trichomes. According to FastBuds, this next week could be her last. Her trichome ratio will likely be sufficient this time next week, but I may let her go a bit further.
