zorn_des_kinski Welcome to my second grow diary and my 4th grow in total! Jack Herer has been on my list for a while now and when there was a sale at Sensi Seeds I immediately got a 3+1 pack. I´ve never had the opportunity to try this strain but I heard so much praise that I´m already very exited for the harvest 😊
I germinated it using the papertowel in a ziplock bag method. After only one day the root was visible and i planted it into a 0.5l transparent cup with some holes in the bottom. I put some black tape on it so the roots won´t be exposed to light. Another transparent cup was used as a humidity dome. On 19.06.2025 the cotyledons were unfolded, I count this as day 1.
My plan for this plant is to try 4 or 8 fold mainlining and start the flowering phase early as I´ve heard that this strain likes to stretch a lot.

zorn_des_kinski Even though the temperature and humidity are far from ideal the plant develops well. Today on 25.06 i removed the humidity dome and she looks happy. Lighting is at ~40%, no circulation fan so far.

zorn_des_kinski In the last week I repotted the plant into its final 12l fabric pot. We had a proper heatwave in Germany - outside temperatures went up to 37°C (98.6°F) where I live, and in the tent, temperatures reached 34°C (93.2°F) - way too hot. Luckily, the plant didn't suffer as much as I did, she grows happily along and doesn't seem to mind. When watering I used 0.5ml/l CalMag and 2ml/l Alfa Boost, pH adjusted to 6.5. I'll carefully start using fertilizer with the next watering.

zorn_des_kinski I began training her into a 4 fold mainline by topping above the third node when she had 6 nodes in total. I gave her a few days and then removed all growth below the third node. Some gardening staples were used to bind down the emerging side shoots horizontally. After the initial top I only watered her with pH adjusted water and a bit of CalMag and Alfa Boost. Now I wait for the side shoots to develop 3-4 new nodes and will then cut next to the first nodes. Temperatures decreased a bit but I'm still looking at 29-31°C in the tent.

zorn_des_kinski Continued mainlining-training with the second topping right after the first nodes of both sideshoots, as well as bending down the four newly emerging shoots horizontally. Also removed leaves that were covering new growth on them.
Got a slight fungus gnat infestation which I treat by spraying and watering with neem oil emulsion.

zorn_des_kinski Neem must have worked well, the fungus gnats all disappeared. I'm gonna treat her one more time to be sure.
On 23.07 (day 35) I flipped her to 12/12. I wasn't sure if that was a little early, but as the strain tends to stretch a lot she will probably be tall enough anyway.
Next week I will be on vacation and a friend will water her.

zorn_des_kinski I'm on vacation right now and a friend cares about watering the plant but for the sake of simplicity I told him not to deal with nutrients and pH so she only receives plain tap water (pH 5.9-6). Before I left I gave her an increased amount of everything.
She looks pretty hungry on the pictures he send me, maybe I can instruct him to feed her regardless. As she stretched a lot, she might be to close to the lights. To me the tips look slightly burned. Told him to raise the lights by 10cm.
Edit: The height provided in this update was not measured but infered from the previous and next week's data.

zorn_des_kinski I'm back from vacation, arrived today. The plant looks very hungry but otherwise healthy. She grew considerably and developed lots of budsites.
Her stature is nothing like the other plants that I grew before her. Very straight and pretty much no sideshoots. This fits the description on the Sensi Seeds website but I'm curious how she would have developed with regular topping.

zorn_des_kinski Everything seems well. Leaf color is normalizing. There are Budsites everywhere! She has a truly unique structure and I try to imagine what she will look like once the buds gain in size.

zorn_des_kinski I think everything is fine. The lower leafs are fading, I hope this is not due to malnutrition.

Grünpflanzen-Dünger
1 mll
zorn_des_kinski Removed yellow leaves on the lower third. Slightly increased nitrogen by adding Compo Grünpflanzen- und Palmendünger (7-3-6).
zorn_des_kinski The plant is ripening. The colas gain in mass and start to bend. I'm gradually decreasing nitrogen fertilizer while maintaining the rest. Probably another 1-2 weeks.
zorn_des_kinski Today was the day. I thought about harvesting for a few days now and when I moved the plant to the tub to water it, the colas just fell over from their own weight. Two days ago I also noticed a few bananas which I immediately removed but this made me nervous to push the plant further and risk ending up with seedy buds. I assume there might have been other nanas I didn't notice so I expect to find some seeds. Not ideal but certainly not the end of the world. It has been almost 10 weeks since the flip to 12/12. The trichomes are mainly milky with some clear ones and the occasional amber. With this strain I'm not after a heavy couch lock and want to be able to stay productive. As I've decided to dry the plant as a whole, with the largest leaves removed, I can't provide any weight yet, but I will submit the dry weight later on.
Update: The dry weight turned out to be 46g. Not too bad for auch a slim plant. The buds are rather airy and small. I'm happy that I tried mainlining but I will probably stick to topping as there was no meaningful improvement to yield or quality.
Congrats! Well deserved. 20y ago at SensiSeedShop Rotterdam I had the opportunity to get some JH and whoooo, that was the best I've ever smoked. Rolled a joint in hotel room, two puffs and I was barely able to lay it back to the ashtray. Same an hour later..... Got now some seeds as well for next run. Enjoy!
Calmag from Biobizz is very weak and takes a long time to be absorbed. When I worked my way up to 3 ml/L and it still didn’t help, I just gave up. I switched to Calmag from BAC and the problem disappeared immediately. And when you’ve got magnesium deficiencies, potassium won’t be absorbed either. Good luck!
I'll be following this as we are almost on the same trajectory time wise on the same seeds. Yours is looking mighty fine. Very cool technique. I see my training is far les structured.
@Versize, I just followed your report as well :) I don't try mainlining to increase my yield but simply because I like the challenge of trying something new. And it will for sure be interesting to compare the plants development
@zorn_des_kinski, I'm also still figuring out the whole grow diaries. Just saw many of my notifications. Yours is doing fine considering it hasn't been fed for a while. A smaller plant like that at least transpires a lot less water, so has it's perks. And I agree. Since I started growing I just try different techniques, just for the sake of fun. It's an hobby after al.
