ElNass 🌱 Hey growers! I’m excited to introduce you to my brand new cultivation project. Season 1 begins now! For this run, I wanted to completely change my approach and go for something more natural and sustainable. I said goodbye to bottled nutrients and embraced a system based on using only water throughout the entire cycle, with the occasional top dress when needed. I chose to work with living soil, and I didn’t stop there. I aimed to build a real living ecosystem. I enriched the medium with earthworms, beneficial bacteria, and mycorrhizal fungi, creating a dynamic and symbiotic environment to support plant health from the ground up 🌾 #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌿 Vegetative Week 1 (officially Week 4) The first three weeks were a bit of a stall — the seedling struggled due to heavy competition from the cover crop. That’s why I’ve decided not to post those early stages and instead start counting from Week 4, when things finally took a turn. To help her bounce back, I completely removed the cover crop and gave her a gentle top dress to stimulate growth: 🔸 Malted Barley – 18g 🔸 Neem Cake – 8g 🔸 Kelp Meal – 8g From here, the real journey begins 🌱💪 Let’s see what she can do with a bit of space and the right boost. #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌿 Vegetative Week 3 This week I did some topping to reduce apical dominance and encourage a bushier growth. ✂️ Surprisingly, the plant recovered almost instantly — no visible stress at all! 💪🌱 I also applied a light top dress to support vegetative growth: 🔸 Malted Barley – 25g 🔸 Neem Cake – 8g 🔸 Kelp Meal – 15g However, something didn’t go quite as planned… By the following week, the plant started showing signs of nitrogen excess — likely triggered by the combination of amendments. Lesson learned: next time I’ll dial it back a bit. Still, she’s pushing through and showing resilience 💚 #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌿 Vegetative Week 4 This week, the effects of the nitrogen excess really started to show. The plant began displaying visible imbalances, likely caused by the top dress from the previous week. 🍃⚠️ Some leaf tips curled slightly, and the overall growth pattern looked a bit off — clear signs she wasn’t entirely happy. It’s a good reminder of how sensitive living soil can be to even small adjustments. Now it’s time to focus on bringing things back into balance. 💚 #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌿 Vegetative Week 5 This week, I installed the first SCROG net to help space out the branches and guide early structure. The idea was to use it for initial training and then add a second layer around week 3 of flowering… But let’s be real — laziness won 😅 I didn’t fully weave the branches through, and the second net never made it up. That said, I also took the chance to prepare the soil for the upcoming flowering phase with a carefully planned top dress: 🔸 Malted Barley – 30g 🔸 Kelp Meal – 15–20g 🔸 Bat Guano – 10g 🔸 Gypsum – 10g 🔸 Basalt Rock Dust – 10–15g The plant is adapting well, and even if the execution wasn’t perfect, we’re still moving forward step by step 🌱💪 Learning, growing — and letting the plant teach me along the way. #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌿 Vegetative Week 6 Not gonna lie the plant looks pretty rough this week 😅 But based on my experience, I’m staying confident. Some of my best plants in flower started off looking like a mess in veg they just needed time to shine 🌱✨ One thing that really surprised me: After the topping, instead of just two tops, I got four! She may not be pretty (yet), but she’s definitely got potential. At the end of the week, I did a light defoliation to open her up and get her ready… Because now it’s time to flip the switch lights set to 12/12 to kick off flowering! 💡🌸 #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌸 Flowering Week 1 We’ve officially entered Week 1 of flowering and the stretch is on! 🌿💨 To support this crucial phase, I gave the soil a light top dress: 🔸 Malted Barley – 15g 🔸 Kelp Meal – 10–15g But what really stands out this week is how the plant is finally starting to shine. Like a true ugly duckling turning into a swan, she’s transforming day by day fuller, greener, and way more graceful than just a week ago 🌱 Excited to see how far she’ll go from here the flower show has just begun! ✨ #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌸 Flowering Week 4 I went on vacation this week and couldn’t take care of the little one myself luckily, my mom stepped in as the stand-in grower 💚 I think she may have underwatered a bit, which caused some minor imbalances, but nothing too serious. The plant held up surprisingly well, and with a little adjustment, we’re back on track 🌿💦 Shoutout to all the moms who keep our grows alive while we’re away! 🙌 #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌸 Flowering Week 8 We’re almost there! The aroma in the tent is incredible rich, complex, and getting stronger by the day 🌬️💚 I’ve been closely watching the trichomes, but we’re not quite ready yet: most are still clear to milky, with no amber in sight. What’s really stunning is the way the fan leaves have started turning a deep black, creating a beautiful contrast with the frosty layer of trichomes ❄️🖤 It’s one of those moments that remind you why patience matters I can’t wait to enjoy the fruit of all this work, but as always: good things take time 🌿⏳ #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

ElNass 🌸 Week 9 of flowering The finish line is near… but patience is everything. Trichomes are almost all milky now, but there’s still no sign of amber. The smell when I open the tent is insane: sweet, sharp, overwhelming… it makes me want to chop her down right away 😤 But I’m holding strong. I know week 10 could make all the difference. These are the hardest days: when your mind says “wait” but your heart (and your nose) scream “it’s time!” 💪 We’re almost there. ElNass It’s the tenth week of flowering, and at first, I thought the plant was almost ready for harvest. But the trichomes are taking longer than expected to shift from clear to amber. I was hoping to let it mature a bit more to get a richer, more balanced effect but the heat has suddenly become a real issue. Inside the grow box, temperatures are peaking at 29–30°C, and the leaves are showing classic signs of heat stress, curling up into that familiar “taco” shape. Now I’m at a crossroads: wait a little longer for ideal ripeness, or harvest early to avoid risking the plant’s health and more importantly, the drying process due to these high temperatures. #livingsoil #organic #season1 #clearwatergenetics #ledgrow #microbialgrow #elnassgrow

After a lot of research and tweaking, this is the final mix I built completely from scratch — the “battleground” where this adventure begins: Final soil mix (for a 113L pot): • 55L sphagnum peat moss • 35L pumice • 20kg worm castings • 200g organic neem cake meal • 350g organic malted barley • 750g living biochar • 150g organic bone meal • 150g hydrolyzed kelp • 750g Cuban bat guano • 500g gypsum • 700g basalt rock dust • 500g oyster shell powder • 200g bokashi But let’s talk first lessons: I made the mistake of planting all the cover crop mix that came with my amendments. What seemed like a good idea turned into an explosive overgrowth across the surface of the pot 🌱💥 The main plant ended up struggling early on due to competition, and I eventually had to remove most of the cover crop (next time, I’ll go easier on that part 😅). As for germination, I used the “glass of water” method, letting the seed pop and then planting it directly into the final 113L pot. Not my brightest move — again, laziness got the best of me, and the seedling struggled at first in such a large environment. Next time, I’ll start in a smaller pot and transplant later for a healthier start. Despite these initial setbacks, I’m excited to see where this journey leads. A living soil for a living grow — and a grower who’s learning every step of the way. 🌿🔥 Let Season 1 begin!

Beautiful work! I also want to work with worms soon, do you have any recommendations? I dont want to drown them, is that no problem at all?
ElNass
ElNass commented3mo ago
@shwable, From my research and personal experience, I’ve learned that creating a truly efficient micro-ecosystem requires a large volume of soil. However, this comes with a major challenge: irrigation. The real game-changer for me was purchasing a soil water potential sensor (around €100, but absolutely worth it). Since then, I’ve had no more irrigation issues—aside from my own laziness! The sensor tells you exactly when to water and when not to, leading to a huge improvement in plant health and in the entire ecosystem, including the worms. Another key discovery was using red Californian worms, which are the best at producing humus directly in the pot. You don’t need many, as they reproduce on their own and adjust their population based on the available space. Adding too many can actually cause them to migrate away. Finally, introducing cover crops turned out to be an excellent move. Not only do they help keep the soil moist, but I would cut them down every couple of weeks and leave the chopped matter on the surface—providing valuable food for both the plant and the worms.
the end.
