Raven To me the smell is normal. We wrap the cabinet every night to block out the light, and to give it a boost of reflection to get all the plant.

I notice you say hydro medium. May I please ask what medium. Now I too am new to growing... I grow hydro
clay pebbles. I was advised by senior growers to lower my PH to 5.4. So... not sure if same for your medium? And that your plant looks real happy.

@Puffer_Bill, anywhere from 5.7 to 6.3 is fine. I aim for 6 and let it wander around that. Forget pH meters easier and less brain damage to use the indicator solution. Yellow is 6. slightly warm yellow is 5.8 and slightly greenish yellow is 6.2.
