Grow 3 - OG Kush Clone 1

PawsGrow 20230331 - At Day 21 of my first grow I topped my plant, cutting just above the 4th node, recut the topping at 45 degrees, dipped the tip in some Clonex rooting gel and stuck her into a Root Riot Planter Starter Cube resting in some perlite with a good watering. Then I played the waiting game. Week 1: The leaves drooped rather quickly and the tips of the two remaining fan leaves started to yellow. I kept the starter cube moist throughout this period. On retrospect, maybe removing these would have allowed what little energy the clone was able to generate to put towards more rapid rooting, but I honestly have no idea. I also could have allowed the starter cube to dry out more before watering again as this might have also encouraged root growth, but that's for me to test next time. Week 2: The leaves darkened to a deeper green and the tips of all the fan leaves points turned yellow. I was encouraged that her leaves weren't drying out and she were still green, although was pretty convinced that she wasn't going to make it given no growth and no evidence of any rooting was observed. But I stuck with her. Towards the end of this week I let her starter cube dry out a bit more, spacing the watering to every other day. 20230416 - Day 16: Roots! There may only be two little white things poking out, but I was so excited to see these show up. Today I planted her starter cube in some Fox Farm Happy Frog soil on top of a thick layer of clay pebbles in a clear solo cup with some holes punched in the bottom and then stuck all that inside another opaque solo cup. This would allow me to observe further root growth while ensuring the roots themselves stay hidden from any direct light. Water

PawsGrow 20230417 - Day 17: After just one day with the tips of her roots exposed to some soil and she perked right up! 20230418 - Day 18: 20230419 - Day 19: Water 20230420 - Day 20: Happy 420! The tips of her new growth don't seem like they're yellow anymore, but nothing has changed with her two larger, older fan leaves. 20230421 - Day 21: 20230422 - Day 22: Water 20230423 - Day 23: Her new growth is really beginning to take off now. I am pretty confident that the older fan leaves aren't going to be growing anytime soon. I think I am going to prune them off tomorrow to help her focus energy on the healthy new growth.

PawsGrow 20230424 - Day 24: After a week in soil I finally took a peak at her roots and they seem to be coming in nicely! They are pretty one-sided however. I am going to keep her in the solo cup for a few more days to see if the other sides fill out and will then transplant her. I am thinking about moving her outside eventually, so it might be into another temporary pot before the ground becomes her home. Will continue to debate on this though. Nutrient water 20230425 - Day 25: I think she is showing some signs of abnormal growth at her top. Will try to capture a closer image tomorrow if I'm not crazy. 20230426 - Day 26: Trimmed off the two older fan leaves and can now appreciate that the plant definitely has a strong and weak side. Much more significant than anything I've seen before, but my experience is limited to only two other plants so that doesn't say much 😁 She otherwise looks healthy. Will be interested to see how she continues to grow now that her roots are getting well established. 20230427 - Day 27: 20230428 - Day 28: 20230429 - Day 29: The roots are looking much more uniform around her cup at this point. I'll plan on replanting her at the start of next week. Still too cold to move her outside. 20230430 - Day 30:

PawsGrow 20230501 - Day 31: Decided to repot her into something a little bigger, a 1 gallon pot. This is not long term. I've just decided to use her as a bit of a test subject for learning purposes. I want to see how well she handles transplanting, how well these smaller fabric pots work for clones in the future, and how easy it will be to pull her out of there when it's time to move her outside. Water. 20230502 - Day 32: 20230503 - Day 33: Looks like some nutrient burn from the soil on a few of her fan leaves. Tried to rinse it off, but she otherwise looks good. 20230504 - Day 34: 20230505 - Day 35: Water 20230506 - Day 36: Looks like she's finally growing again after her transplant. 20230507 - Day 37:

PawsGrow 20230508 - Day 38: Water 20230509 - Day 39: She finally seems like she's starting to grow again after her most recent transplant. She's currently sharing a tent with a much larger auto-flower, so the distance to her light is 3x what her mother had growing up. I am hoping this might encourage her to stretch a bit more than her mother, who grow up like a bush! Otherwise, she's looking healthy. 20230510 - Day 40: Growing more now for sure! 20230511 - Day 41: Water 20230512 - Day 42: Debating whether or not I should top her soon and try my hands at cloning another top. I am super happy with how her mother is doing and think I might want to try and keep her around. 20230513 - Day 43: Water 20230514 - Day 44: Stretching towards the light now. Gotta find a good spot outside now for her to grow.

PawsGrow 20230515 - Day 45: Today was topping day! With a little additional LST. She is stretching a lot more than her mom, but that's likely because the light is 3x as far from her top due to her huge neighbor. I am going to try to clone her top again for another indoor grow. Water 20230516 - Day 46: Took to the LST well. Might need some additional work later this week to keep her from stretching too much though. 20230517 - Day 47: Definitely still stretching, but I'm gonna let her go. Maybe this will help when she gets moved outside. 20230518 - Day 48: Adjusted the LST a little. Gotta figure out how to manage the upper branches though. 20230519 - Day 49: 20230520 - Day 50: Plan to do some more LST prior to lights out to better control some of her upward growth. 20230521 - Day 51: She is definitely growing all kinds of lopsided with one axis much more robust than the other. Will see how she handles her last adjustment.

PawsGrow 20230522 - Day 52: Little dehydrated this morning, but she's handling the little LST well. Gotta figure out how to transition this to outside or if it will even be needed. As lopsided as she's growing, it might not mater. Honestly, might be worth just removing the weaker growths. Water 20230523 - Day 53: 20230524 - Day 54: Noticed one of the leaves starting to wilt. Will assess further tomorrow. 20230525 - Day 55: Seems like this plant might be experiencing some nutrient deficiencies, since I haven't fed her much thus far. Will give another feeding and see how things go. Nutrient water 20230526 - Day 56: First time leaving for a long weekend. Hoping she'll be fine when I get back.

PawsGrow 20230531 - Day 61: She's taking to the LST well, although isn't growing super fast in her tiny pot. I am hoping to move her outside in the coming weeks and get her in the ground, but for now she's likely going to experience minimal growing until I give her more room. 20230603 - Day 64: Had to remove a few lower leaves that were experiencing a lot of yellowing. I am pretty sure she is getting nutrient starved in this 1gal pot without me feeding enough supplemental nutrients. I plan on getting her in the ground this week and then she'll be on her own.

PawsGrow 20230610 - Day 71: Unfortunately, I injured my back 2 weeks ago and just haven't been able to stay on top of my grows. This clone is due to go into the ground this week if I manage or get some help. She suffering from some nutrient deficiencies since she's only been getting water, but hopefully the move will do her well.

PawsGrow 20230613 Day 74: Finally got her outside in the ground. Here's to hoping the critters leave her alone while she gets comfortable.

PawsGrow 20230622 - Looks like she might have started flowering already! Thought it would take longer into the summer but I'm thinking she might be getting less sunlight than I thought in her new home. Otherwise, she's looking good. All new growth is healthy.

PawsGrow Can confirm that she is definitely flowering at this point. I would have thought that it would take until a little later in the summer rather than right at the onset, but maybe it has to do with her position relative to the sun. Regardless, she is growing amazing. I haven't done anything to her, just letting her go on her own. I am excited to see what comes of this outdoor experience.

PawsGrow 20230708: She's still chugging along and looking good. There might be some evidence of a few aphids showing up, but I think all I can do at this point is keep an eye on things since I don't plan on treating her with anything nutrient or chemical related. Just seeing what nature provides at this point. Gave her a neighbor as well in the form of her top which started to flower while on the porch so I figured why not throw her in the ground as well.
