RedGiant Germinating 2 seeds to get 1 viable plant. Put the seeds in wet paper towel for 24 hours which did not soften the shells. So, I used a sandpaper to scarify the shells on the surfaces and edges. Also, soft-cracked the shell at one edge to aid the embryo to get humidity. Edit 1 - The last lot was dud. I had to put 2 more seeds and got one viable plant. Planted it in Coco Jiffy. The initial smell from the jiffy post watering was a little moldy, so watered the seedling in the coco jiffy using 1:50 peroxide solution. The smell is gone, and the seedling looks happy. The roots are yet to stabilize. Once I see roots popping out of the jiffy, I will be placing them in my 20L DIY Deep Water Culture bucket. Fingers crossed. Edit 2 - Started the DWC hydroponics chamber today. 1. Placed the jiffy on hydrotons. 12 L/H air pump moving air to two 1’’ airstones 2. Following nutes added to water - TA Tripart Grow - 0.5 ml/L, Micro - 0.2 ml/L, Bloom - 0.2 ml/L 3. Other chemicals added to water - 1 ml/L Hydrogen Peroxide (6% w/v), 1ml/L of PH down as the water near my place is hard and PH 7. Measurements: 1. PH - Used drops to measure on colour scale. Current PH hovering around 6.0 2. PPM - 596 3. Temperature - 27 C. I know its a little high. In absence of a chiller, I am sure the peroxide will handle the microbes

I have a tip burn, and I believe that may be a light stress. Can Someone help me to differentiate between Nute burn and Heat Stress? The seedling in the pic is a week old, sitting on a 5 gallon DWC bucket.

@crimsonecho. 1. My temps are around 28C. And I do not have a chiller. 2. The water is very hard, with 411 ppm out of the tap. I have a hard water Nutrient Trio from Terra Aquatics. Tried Grow - 0.5ml/L, Micro - 0.2ml/L, Bloom - 0.2ml/L, Hydrogen Peroxide 6% - 1ml/L. That raised the ppm to ~600. Kept a couple of days. When I saw this tip burn, I changed the water and just added Hydrogen Peroxide and Micro. The ppm was around 500. 3. My PH is very unstable. Around 8.0 out of the tap. I added 19ml of PH down (phosphoric and citric acid mix) to bring down to 6.0. It got raised to 7 overnight. Added 10ml of PH down again.

i can help you differentiate between the two with one simple question fyi.. are your temps too high, exceeding 29-30C? what are you feeding this gal by the way thats helpful to know. usually when its light stress the leaves will not point upwards in a praying pose. so anyway what are feeding it with?

Looks like light burn, look at the leaf tip, when is burned with nutrients has a different color and is only the pointy tip, looking at your picture, it has the tip and a little bit, this will increase. by the time, also tips look dried but yellowish, not brown color

RedGiant The true leaves show a bit of Light Burn, even with a Photone measured 311 PPFD at 24 inches from a Fecida 1000W (real wattage 120W) at 25%. Reduced the PPFD to 240 and will see if this situation improves.

10 Day old plant. DWC. Iron Lock issue? Can you confirm? Also, is it stunted? My PH initially was out of control (6-8) due to heavy water salts. The plain water alone was 411 PPM. Changed water to 15 PPM and added nutes till 320 PPM. PH hovering between 5.7-6.5

I disagree with others saying it is from high EC, 320 PPM is really low. She's looks stressed. Probably heat problems, root issues, the nutrient change and the PH swings. Make sure the roots are healthy, your environment is good, and your plant will be fine.

Autos start their nutrition in hydroponics their first week at 200 ppm. If their good the next week is 300, if their good the 3rd week is 400, if their good the 4th week is 500, if their good the 5th week is 600 and you stop increasing there., unless you see that their really wanting more food. Keep your water cool and your ph set at 5.8 until you see actual buds around button size, then bring your ph up to 6.2 for early bud and 6.3 for mid to late flower. Check your ph daily and adjust as necessary

Thanks for the encouragement folks. Much appreciated. The last lot did not germinate. So, I put a fresh batch of 2 seeds in peroxide mix for 12 hours and transferred them to paper towel. One of them have germinated, with 5 mm tap root. I put that one in a coco-coir jiffy. Plan to move to the 6-inch net pot (filled with hydrotons) latched to a 20L DWC DIY bucket.
