The_Chef_420 Well everyone, here I have one of the most controversial strains in all of the cannabis community. Yes this is real, I originally received the seeds directly from André at Kalyseeds and this is the second generation from those that I first recieved, a result of a beautiful outdoor open pollination/preservation run in which I completed. Yes I have smoked quite a bit of the flowers and they do have an effect so similar to cannabis that in a blind test, you wouldn't be able to tell. The smell and taste is more floral and less like cannabis at all, making it great for guerrilla grows. I didn't take pictures of the germination of these two so I'm working with what I have, though I plan to keep an updated journal from now on.

The_Chef_420 This set of pictures are about 3 weeks after my first post. I have a lot going on and disappointingly didn't take as many pictures as I thought. The small one pictured is the sprout from the two in one cup pictured in week 1. The larger ended up autoflowering and became hermie due to stress so I saved the other. Both of these were from seeds which I thought were cross pollinated with a conventional cannabis male from somewhere outside and could very well have been due to their characteristics. The long vine-like one had typical characteristics of just normal Legitimo. I can't wait to see what these can do indoors under optimal conditions. THC production should in theory be significantly increased due to being un-pollinated and under optimal conditions.

The_Chef_420 This is obviously a few weeks ahead of my last post, I'm a very busy person. One of the two is growing identical to the original Legitimo and the other may be from regular cannabis pollen pollinating my original grow outdoors. In fact, the seeds used for these two came from a group that I selected for small size and different shape than the others. It is very possible that pollen from a neighbor or someone in the vicinity of where I live. I've grown conventional cannabis outdoors here with no male, no pollen indoors or out and still get male/female seeds. (Yes it's possible that they could have thrown some anthers and self pollinated but I still get male plants from the same population of seeds.) This grow was something done on a whim so it's not going to be perfect by any means, I'm kind of figuring out how to grow it inside as I go along haha. I plan to do a more in-depth grow and diary once my other girls finish flowering in the big tent so that I'll have some free space to do this properly.
JUST FOR SOME FUN(:

The_Chef_420 Looks like the larger one is going to be a male. I might just rip him so I don't get pollen into my tent next door. The other little one that is sort of auto flowering should be interesting though.

The_Chef_420 She appears to be auto flowering! Her parents weren't believed to be autos so maybe this is an accidental cross with an auto from being outdoors? I can't wait to see if the resin content improves when compared to being grown completely seeded outdoors.

The_Chef_420 Well it's official that she's an auto. There's a couple good shots of what the pre-flowers look like on a female. I wish I would've taken closer pictures of the male pre-flowers before I chopped him down for everyone to see.
Any tips on getting the seeds started?
I'm about to run some for the first time and I've heard it can be difficult.
Did you start them like hops seeds by sticking in the fridge for 4-6 weeks before planting?
Started a few of these, I got 3/4 to pop easily in soil.
The soil turned out to be too acidic actually, so they were moved to coir and resumed growth. They're at about the 4th node now.
Can't wait to sample these, they have really mutated growth and I can only wonder what the biochemistry is. I also wonder if these are tetraploids.
Some people have claimed their lines of Kalyhops have tested neg for cannabinoids, but there are virtually no reports of just smoking the herb besides Chef here and Kaly himself. Is it possible the cross has created a new type of cannabinoid agonist through the amalgamation of enzymes? So many mysteries.
If nothing else these plants are really genetically strange, exhibiting unique greens and pinks within the variegation.
Thank you for investigating Chef! Growing impatiently :)

@neo96789, no but cold stratification may help. From what the breeder at Kalyseeds told me directly was to sow them directly in the media you're going to use and allow them to have cycles of moist/wet to almost dry to simulate outdoor conditions. It can take up to 5 weeks for them to pop so be patient but I've had them pop as early as the first 5 days. You can soak them in aloe vera/distilled water mix for 24hr to help soften the shell. I'm not saying other methods won't work, this is just what I have been using and what I was told.
