Yes. *sighs* well not birds but ive had bugs, cats and even myself all top plants way too early by mistake or bad luck. And they recover just fine IF you put a cage around it and stop further damage. Its that simple- if you can stop more damage she will do fine...if she gets more damage while small then no, the next time will stunt her badly. Also while she recovers be extra careful not to over water as she wont be using much water for a while now ok. Some seaweed extract like liquid Seasol mixed in to her water for a few weeks would help too but its not vital. Just give her time to divert energy to growing new shoots and you will be glad you let her.
